I know I have heard this discussed before but I wanted to see if anyone has had any success with using photographs online that were professionally shot. I am considering doing if it is worth the investment. |

From my experience, using okcupid best face, those professional photograph is not ideal for guys. You appear as boring and try hard.

Ok, here's a little tip (you gonna thank me big time for this): If you want to always appear at your best, no need for pro pictures... As the previous poster mentionned, it looks a bit try hard. You want your pictures to be quality and show you at your best, whilst remaining casual. I'm not very photogenic, and it's very seldom I see a pic in which I like myself, so I've come up with the following technique to get pictures I'm happy with in any occasion: 1. get a good quality camera, small enough to carry around with you in any occasion, but that shoots quality (HD) video (personally, I like to use a gopro hero 2 ; I surf, climb and kayak, but I also like to use it for non action shots). 2. Don't shoot pictures ; shoot video... 3. Watch your video footage frame by frame, and pick the stills where you are at your best (and in the best company) 4. do a screen capture 5. paste it in paint or other image editing software, then crop the picture. 6. photoshop, or use GIMP for a free alternative, until you are pleased with the results. As I said: I've had fantastic results with this with a gopro. |

I would advise against getting professional photo's done. It's a sign of desperation, coming from a male. You need to put more emphasis on the context of your profile. And your initiating messages. As far as photo's it's best to have a photo of yourself with a straight face. Just keep it simple. Try to captivate her with your words. Online dating is a numbers game, It's the worlds biggest meat market. Look at it as research and message them all. |
