I'm currently using flirto and PoF and have found an opener that works for myself pretty much every time I send it out.
"Hi how's it going? What's your opinion you tattoos? Someone the other day was trying to tell me they ruin people's bodies.."
Just using the "opinion" method I seem to always get an answer. My profile is pretty standard and lame. My profile picture is a topless one showing my tattoos which helps to get either a positive or negative response
