Post subject:  Need a few tips on my profile

Been a long time since I last did online game so just want a few tips on how to improve my profile description etc:

Headline: "Ready to Rock n Roll!!!"

Description:
"This isn't a CV so I won't go into every little detail of myself (what would we talk about on first meeting otherwise?). I'm king of the music geeks! Play guitar and studying music technology. Will listen to anything from classical to jazz to blues to rock and everything inbetween + beyond. (but mostly rock Very Happy)
I love psychology/socialising, talking to random people and seeing what makes them tick. Fascinated by physics and everything that makes up the universe (the geek in me). And recently gone on a bit of a health kick, so exercising more, eat better drink less etc.

Generally just looking to meet up with anyone who fits the bill, not a fan of smokers/drug users in any way shape or form. As far as everything else goes, just be a fun person, people are way too serious these days so a spontaneous nature would be a nice quality to have.

Feel free to message me."

Interests: "Music, Guitar, Psychology, Physics, Partying, Socialising, Football"

Fist date: "Quite happy to do a casual meetup for a couple of drinks and a few laughs, or go all out and go skydiving haha."

Any advice greatly appreciated, I feel there's something not quite right with it but can't put my finger on it. Cheers

Hey Musterion,

Get rid of "feel free to message me" and the "First date..." line.

Expand on your interests, online Profiles are much less important than you think - the really important thing is the first message, followed by your profile picture.

Chicks scan profiles for keywords to "match" and "qualify" you.

The good news is that chicks really respond to guys who have the same music interests that they do, and you are a music guy, so go nuts listing your music interests.

Pierce

PS - I have a first email that gets a 100% response rate, check it out here - http://www.onlinedatingtipsmaster.com/

Here's what I like:
“As far as everything else goes, just be a fun person, people are way too serious these days so a spontaneous nature would be a nice quality to have." this is great because it's nice and vague. I love the word spontaneous, it conveys all the right things without getting too specific or academic. “People are way too serious” is something that everyone can relate to.

Here's what I don't like:
don't say that you're looking to meet up with anyone who fits the bill. It sounds like you're not selective. you need to go into greater detail about what you like, and what you don't like. It doesn't matter if she fits exactly your profile, but shall be impressed by how selective you are.

Get rid of “CV”. It sounds like you're a math professor. Boring.

Go beyond just talking about your music tastes. What's it like hanging around you? What type of experiences you have offered the scroll? As always, be vague yet intriguing in your descriptions.

Best avoid overly obvious statements like first line. You could leave the rest of that paragraph. After that it's gone wrong. You need to specify with reasonable certainty the sort of girl you're looking for and words to effect of your confidence in that. You could say "Looking to meet up if you fit the bill:"
and then

Must not smoke
Must like at least Rock
Must be outgoing and likes to experience new things
Must be healthy/do exercise
Must be at least 5'5 (or whatever best for your height)

I'd also leave out "psychology" and remove "Quite happy to do a". After that as long as you write girls that fit the bill and don't try anything too clever with a message you should have no problem getting a reply.

Cheers for the responses guys. I agree with the first line, I wasn't overly convinced of it myself lol so I'll be getting rid of that. @pierce With regard to the "First date" thing, that's a box you have to fill in on there so I just whacked any old thing down. I think i'm gonna change to something like "Something spontaneous!" just to keep it a bit vague.
When it comes to what I'm looking for, what I put is quite literally it. Apart from them not smoking or doing drugs I don't mind about things like height and what their musical tastes are, whilst rock is my preference I like almost all types of music (the other day I spent an hour watching a performance of mozart's music for example lol)

So to sum up I'll take out the CV part, change the first date box bit, and change the "what i'm looking for" kinda section to be a little more specific as suggested. As pierce said though I've always been under the impression that the profile isn't as important as the first message.

Cheers guys anyway, I'll set the profile up tomorrow (night in-field ahead this evening :D)

doesn't matter if you don't mind things or not. chances are they're gonna like more than just rock too. Purposely narrowing the field makes you appeal more to a certain subset rather than just another guy with general tastes. The idea is to stand out from the crowd.

I've always found the more they like your profile the less critical first messages are.

Ok here's my revised profile:

"I'm king of the music geeks! Play guitar and studying music technology with the amibiton of working in the industry in some capacity. Will listen to anything from classical to jazz to blues to rock and everything inbetween + beyond, though if I'm gonna be specific 70's/80's rock is my main vice :D
I love psychology/socialising, meeting interesting people and having new experiences. Fascinated by physics and everything that makes up the universe (the geek in me). And recently gone on a bit of a health kick, so exercising more, eat better drink less etc.

A good sense of humour is a must, I'm talking a really random sense of humour like laughing at a rudely shaped vegetable :D. Similar taste in music would be a plus aswell. I'm not a fan of smokers/drug users in any way shape or form, I like someone who looks after their body. I value things like trust, honesty, respect etc so looking for someone with the same values, as opposed to being materialistic. As far as everything else goes, just be a fun person, people are way too serious these days so a spontaneous nature would be a nice quality to have."

So I've been a bit more specific in some areas, the random sense of humour bit I'm not entirely sure on but it's kinda hard to explain lol.
