At least call them Asians instead of "Oriental' which many Asians will find offensive due to the bad connotation it has received in the past. It's like calling a japanese "nip" or blacks "colored" |

Yeh i am up for this, In england oriental isnt that bad, it means they are from the orient and is not at all an insult, we have resteraunts called oriental express. Where asian is normally used to refer to india, pakistan etc.. and also not at all insulting |

that's the justification for using it. You ask asians how they feel about it not how Westerners feel about it. To a non black individual, the word "colored" does not make them feel bad. Who do you think first used the word "Oriental" and gave it the negative connotation today? The British. But that does not mean it's ok to use it now adays. |

it has no bad stigma attached to it in the UK though, there is the train, the orient express, there is the resteraunt oriental express, its just another phrase over here dude, its just like them calling us westerners, im not offended in the least |

For the record. Oriental is used to describe THINGS, not people. We have Oriental Express in American, too. Oriental Kitchen. Oriental Buffet. Oriental Rugs, etc... But calling Asians orientals is like calling Blacks tribals. I suggest learning some cultural references first before trying to pick up their women. |

I'd be up for this. Where exactly were you thinking of going? As an aside, when I first went to the US I was doing really well with this girl until I called her oriental and she was incredibly insulted, and I said but that's what we say in the UK because asian means India/Pakistan to us, but she did NOT ever see the funny side of it. I think it's more of a big deal in the US than here, but now I just say asian to not accidentally offend anyone. |
