One of the biggest barrier breakers for myself is a principle that Style mentions in the Game and also if you read Pook's material you will find the same. Remember when you were a kid you had no worries and everything was fun? Girls had cooties, were gross, and yes you could talk to anyone of them. When I see a woman and if I have blown the 3 second rule I step out of the scene for a moment so I will not be seen as a lurker, which is creepy. Then I picture that women as a little girl, myself as a little boy and we are on the playground. This one, puts you in a positive, playful mood. Two takes away some of the intimidation factor that your young woman may have. And three puts you in an active frame of mind. Next step out and make it a game; your game. Have fun with it and so will she. During my day game often I will even put the playground mindset into actual play. One of the openers I have used and has worked for me is a simple game of tag. When I see a girl I want to talk to I will walk up to her and either simply tag her yelling "tag" as I jog away, or I will sometime say with a completely straight face, "I feel that I must inform you that (pause, then tagging her) your it". This is unexpected for her and many times she will stay where she is. I then will walk back to the set and ignoring her completely say to her friends, "She is so straiight lace, boring, not fun, etc. How do ya'll hang with her?" Immediately most will start qualifying themselves as no one likes to be boring. Also this brings a very playful air to the set and is non-threatening even though it's obvious that you tagged her for a reason. Tagging her also is a slight form of kino and the game of tag is very push pull. If she doesn't respond then most likely you don't want to talk to her right then anyway. Hope this helps. Here is a link for the article Pook wrote. http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39559 Regret will always be more painfull than rejection.[/url] |

WoW. A very interesting concept! I do like the idea of Tag...but in the same sense, you must have the confidence to do something like that. Hesitation is a horrible, horrible attribute. Btw...Your quote...I need to get that permanently stapled on behind my eyelids...So true.... |

You might want to take baby steps. Instead of trying to get a conversation going, maybe just start off trying to say one thing, anything, to get a laugh or response. If that seems to intimidating, how about asking the time, or where there's a good restaurant nearby. Just getting in the habit of walking up and talking to women you don't know, even if just to ask a simple question, get a simple answer, and walk off, is good practice to break through the shyness. Try it and let us know how it goes. Good luck |
