I have a friend just like you, he makes plenty of excuses and finally I told him to just go for it we weren't leaving until he at least asked for it. Just think of it like this, would you rather get rejected and try, or walk away and never know what could have possibly happened. To me personally the second one is much more difficult to deal with. If she was constantly making eye contact than more than likely she was diggin you and just waiting for you to approach her.
But hey good job for getting the courage to at least go back in there
