I'm practicing on how to have a good conversation not just with women but anybody in general. Now thing is I have good ideas within a conversation or good replies but i think of them about 10 seconds later. By that time the topic of the conversation would have already morphed. This problem is especially pain when i approach women and after the opening i can't think of a thing to say. I'm looking for a way to overcome this 10 second delay and I been working on this theory were you fashion a characteristic trait into your responses. So for example say i use an asshole character to dictate my responses. I can think of alot ways to respond even before the other person has stopped talking. Now my dads a prick so i have a solid knowledge of an asshole charcter to draw my responses from. This technique does not only help me pull out responses quicker but it does tend to add some wit to my thoughts as well. So i wonder if I can do this with tv characters and expand my mental horizions so i can think quicker in conversations. Does this theory sound viable? And did any of you figure out a way to be quick on your feet? |

I also think of extremely witty things, yet only after it's too late to bring it back up. (Or even after the conversation.) Having a character to draw responses from is a good idea. I'm quite interested in this discussion and I'm wondering what other people think about this. |

I used to be exactly like this. The best way to correct this is to ALWAYS be thinking(its a ton easier if you actually enjoy this). Every time I thought of something funny I would write it in a notepad. Every time someone else in real life says something funny write it down. I'd also watch a ton of movies and TV shows and write down all of the lines I thought were funny. Every time you have a conversation, it doesn't matter if you can't think of a clever response on the spot. Replay it in your head when you're laying on your bed several hours later and try to think of some great responses. When you do, write them down in a notepad. Then go over them later.I'm looking for a way to overcome this 10 second delay and I been working on this theory were you fashion a characteristic trait into your responses. My conversation is so natural that I don't need to do this anymore. And to think, I originally started this because I wanted to memeorize a bunch of funny stuff and say them to people. Now, I think of funny things to say on the spot every day. If you make this lifestyle change, I have no doubt you'll be like this too. Good luck! |

Think I'm a couple of days late on this thread but I also used to have problems with this but a couple of things that I found helped to really focus on are to have a set of fake scenarios to chuck in where theres a break in conversation, like " did you see that guy earlier who wet himself at the bar?". Another one for me which took a bit of time but you can practice with anyone, learning to be a critical listener, in each statement, question or answer to a question there will usually be a hook piece of information you can ask about which if picked up properly they will end up leading you to what they want to talk about which is usually themselves. Which can then lead to some well timed kino. Hope it helps |
