| Post subject: | Shy Because Of My Voice |
I am afraid to start a conversation because I hate the way my voice sounds. It's a little nasally and I think I mumble without even meaning to. I feel like it's almost monotonous and boring, therefore no one is even interested in listening to what I have to say. Ever since I heard my voice I'm just so self-conscious about it and it's driving me insane. When I'm talking to someone, I feel like they are put off by my voice which lowers my confidence, which lowers my voice quality even more. -------------- Please help me out and listen to a recording of me and tell me what I need to improve on! (Or am I just crazy?) https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B85ZIm ... NWIw&hl=en |

i know alot of guys, myself included have this issue. i think i sound wierd, but i have had women over the years say i have a sexy voice. so i dont know what to tell you, other then you will always be overly critical of yourself. try not to let it rent space in your head. |

maybe try a few acting lessons, I took a few years ago from a lady who was a voice and dialect coach as i had a bad habit of not speaking clearly or finishing words you no wha m sayn .it also taught me how to add tonality tempo etc to make a story or monologue sound more interesting. Just listened to your voice there is nothing wrong with it...every one thinks they sound weird when you record your own voice and play it back but dude your voice is normal so work on the insecurity. |

(Or am I just crazy?) Relax the top of your throat and feel your words vibrate through your chest. Also practice selective pausing and speaking slowly. More importantly don't be afraid to be more animated with your facial expressions. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B85ZIm ... NWIw&hl=en |

Alright thanks guys. So there really is nothing annoying about my voice? Not even slightly? I've been thinking about looking into voice lessons but working up to save some money first. |

My voice is very soft, low and quiet. It sounds quite nice, but in any kind of loud environment (pub, club, anywhere with a large group of people) I have trouble getting noticed. I try to raise my voice and shout, but people just don't seem to be aware I'm saying anything sometimes (although sometimes a few people notice, which makes it more embarrassing because they're aware you've repeated yourself a few times and the recipient still hasn't heard). My voice just seems to have this quality that makes people not hear it or listen to it, I wish it was even more nasal! But that is just what my voice sounds like, and I can't seem to change that. |

Na nothing wrong with your voice some puas do have different voices though like perhaps savoys kinda nasely and neil strauss sounds a little nerdy mehow sounds deep fem but women dont seem to give a sht. The lady i got lessons off was a voice coach for vin deasel at one stage but I never master a deep voice kindy settled back to a better version of my own but did get more volume aswell as she pulled me up on my slackness in finishing words. So it wont be a complete change to get lessons but girls say 'what?' less often. If its a really loud club i will just use 3fingers and lightly touch her on her arm just above the elbow its less intrusive than a poke and not as grabby as a hand. |
