Post subject:  Eye Contact

I'm not a huge sarger at all, but a good way to work with eye contact if you're a nervous or anxious person (like me) is to look at a fixed point slightly above the other person's eyes. This way, it gives them the illusion that you are keeping eye contact, while you can gradually move the point closer to their actual eyes, until you're staring straight into their eyes.

I learned this from the classic staredown trick. You almost never laugh if you use this.

It sort of keeps the interaction from being, er, fully human, so pretend you're talking to their eyebrows (but not your whole face haha)

This looks a little weird and creepy when it's done. It's not a bad idea. Most of our lives we're told not to stare, and that holding long periods of eye contact is rude. This makes it mentally tough for some people to get over.

The best trick I can relate is that you pick one eye either the left or the right and you focus on that eye. You see it's physically impossible to focus on both eyes, so just pick one. At a distance of more than a few feet, people can't really tell which eye you are looking into.

That's strange because I get weird looks from girls when I do that. While I was sitting in a C-Train in Calgary I started the conversation with "What are you staring at?" She said "nothing". She got creeped out and stared away.

LOL obviously I would too.

If you would of said it playfully with a smile on your face it would have been a different story, you came off as a prick.

I do the staring at 1 eye, if you are looking back and forth from left to right and left to right it looks weird
