Post subject:  Post-Pickup Anxiety

Hey guys,

I have more post-pickup anxiety than I do approach anxiety.

I get through my approach anxiety by looking down at the floor or the table and telling myself that it's silly I'm feeling this way, that I've done this loads of times and that it's nothing new to me. Then I run through a scenario in my head covering my the possible outcomes of my approach - rejection, acceptance etc. Once that's sorted in my head, I just do it. Usually, as soon as I say the opener, the anxiety vanishes and I try to move into natural conversation mostly (if it's a day time pickup) or some canned material (if I'm in a bar and the social circumstances call for it) or a combination of the two.

But my anxiety now seems to lie in this: After I make the pickup, and number or email close, it takes me ages to think of what to say when texting, calling or emailing. Once I get through that, I seem to "worry" that I haven't said anything too cocky or too personal and that I've sufficiently referenced something in our last conversation.

So it goes, the time gap from me texting or emailing her to the time she replies is quite an anxious one for me. If I don't get a reply within a decent time I tend to look back to see if I said anything I shouldn't have, or should have said something that I didn't, etc. I need to learn to be more cool about this and not give a damn.

Does anyone here also have this kind of anxiety? Do you guys have any advice on how to deal with this?

Thanks,

- Angelus
