I don't have much to talk about in general. I am sort of a bad boy cause I have ADHD so I'm real impulsive and because of that I have plenty of stories to tell. However I don't like to talk about them (however wild and funny they may be) because it might come across as bragging. Also Reading the news and watching TV (which I don't do) just to catch up with today's gossip sounds like a real demanding chore. So I have 2 questions: -What can I do to open a normal, civilized conversation with a woman? -How can I tell her my crazy adventures without bragging about them? |

I think the main difference between being interesting and bragging/being a bore is to do with the amount of time you spend talking about stuff, rather than actually what you're talking about. 'Brag' a bit about your interesting stories, people will laugh at them and find them funny etc. It's when you start turning everyone else's stories around on to you that it becomes boring. So if someone says "well I once got really drunk and threw up in my next door neighbours garden on the way home." But you respond by trying to beat that story with one of your own ALL the time, then you come across as extremely self centred. Don't get me wrong, sometimes, it's good to swap stories in that way, but at the same time, make sure you're not just talking non stop about yourself - let other people have their moment in the limelight so to speak as well. On the news issue, personally I don't talk about current events with girls all that much during pick up. I think it risks getting a bit too superficial. I prefer to talk about the girl, it's much easier to make a connection and talk about her feelings and stuff like that when you're talking about her, rather than when you're talking about a news story. Obviously you can talk about a news story and simply say "dno't you think that's sad" or whatever, but I just think it's easier to focus on the girl. Of course, if it's more than a one night stand thing, where you may need wider ranges of conversation topics because you're seeing each other more often, then the news and current events is a very good way not to run out of things to say! |
