| Post subject: | Mental Tricks for Calming Yourself |
Anyone have any visualization or role play or anything you say to yourself in situations that bring up anxiety that always calms you down? One thing I'll do is kind of mentally review some of my biggest successes from the past. I'll picture myself in the situation and remember what someone said to me. I try not to go for cheap compliments, but times people really felt I helped them and were glad to be connected with me. It can be very grounding. What are your methods? |

Few techniques to control your anxiety problem:- Focus on proper breathing techniques Breathe using your nose and out using your mouth. Go ahead and take air out of your diaphragm (stomach region) and not simply out of your chest. This can regulate your own body's reactions and enable you to remain calm. Shake or shrug shoulders to produce tension Exercise generally is a superb method to release stress. However, you might not be in a position to go to the gym each time you have a stressful situation. Simply shake or shrug shoulders to produce the strain. Rolling shoulders in a back-to-front motion is another fantastic way to beat the strain. Lie down or sit back in a safe place Close your eye and listen to slow music to consider the mind off of emotional pressure. Let all the tension in your forehead, neck, and hands fade away slowly. Imagine all of the body relaxing. Begin with your toes so that as you breathe, imagine them becoming one using the Earth. Play the role of as still as you possibly can. |

I like the part about breathing. One of my bosses right now is a Buddhist (and frankly a decent PUA or natural not sure which, but he's GOOD lol). He's been teaching me some breathing techniques they use in meditation to clear your mind in our free time. The crazy thing is how simple it is:Focus on proper breathing techniques Breathe using your nose and out using your mouth. BREATHE IN BREATHE OUT Focus on the breathing only Listen only to your breathing Don't try to block out other noises Think only about breathing It's that simple. If you want to get more technical with it: Take deep relaxed breaths that fill your whole abdomen. Your shoulders should not rise if you are doing it right. Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. Breathe out for a slightly longer period of time than you breathe in. I'd say as a general rule breathe in for 4 seconds and out for 6 seconds. Do it all in a slow relaxed way. When breathing out expel all the air in your abdomen. If only for a short while it will completely clear your head of all negative thoughts so you can be productive. Some people train themselves daily to do this for hours so they can jump into this state at any time, stay there, or even do it unconsciously. There are other more complicated techniques, but for me this has been the simplest to learn and use on a daily basis. Hope this helps. |

I try to become aware of my mind racing and then I tell myself to calm down and relax because things are not as bad as they seem. |
