Post subject:  How to become the AMOG at work

Now, I've started working in a very busy restaurant as a busser. And it feels like i'm such an afc in there. Essentially, when you start off you get bugged by everybody to do what they want you to do, but I think this is how the restaurant functions so I'm not sure not doing what they want me to do is an option at times. You speak out you may get amogged or bitched at by seniority alone, so you've got to do things carefully.

I was thinking I should talk to the guys, but developing more amog status means talking to more of the guys, and I'm caught in too much of a "do this" "do that" state. It's hard to get oufo that mindset.

In any case, there are some girls at owrk, what are some tips to keeping your morality and socialability up when you're getting ordered?

You need to be an alpha male no matter what the cost.

If you like the girls that you work with, let them see that you are not one
to be bossed around. You are the boss. If this means getting another job
before you show that you're the alpha male at the place you are working
at right now, then get another job BEFORE you get fired from this one.

I'm saying this... GET ANOTHER JOB BEFORE BEING ALPHA FOR THE
GIRLS AT YOUR PRESENT JOB.

Then you can ask one of them out, on your way out the door after
getting fired. I cannot stress this enough, have another job before
doing this though.

Your other job can be one where you are not interested in anyone
working there. It can also be one where you get bossed around, but it
will not matter because you don't like no one there (sexually).

But, you will however have that one girl at your previous job thinking
that you are the hottest guy because you showed alpha male status.

Hope this makes sense, if not, read it again and again. If you need help
in how to be the alpha male, read this book:

PS. Do not let her know where you work. You don't want her to see
you being bossed around. She must think that YOU ARE IN CHARGE
at your job. If this mean bending the truth a little bit, then so be it.

I've been a busboy and a server at different places. Being a busboy sucks, because you're basically hired to clean up and be everyone's bitch. A server isn't AS bad, because you're at least equal with the other servers, and you can boss around the busboys, but you're still the patrons' bitch. Here's a few tips:

Know your job requirements/ expectations, and do them before being told. Don't wait for someone to have to tell you to clear a table, or whatever, do it and have a good attitude about it. But if someone tells you to go seat a party (assuming that's not your job), say something cocky, funny, like "Sure, but that'll cost ya. Want me to cook their meal too? I'll just put it on your tab :P "

Maintain a happy, confident, funny attitude. Working in a restaurant can be stressful for everyone, so try to joke about it as much as you can. If a waitress says "Go clean my table", you could say "What's the magic word?" Her: "please go clean my table?" You: "Oh.. so sorry, the word I was looking for was actually "shazam!" Better luck next time, guess you're gonna have to find a different slave-boy  "

Basically try to tease them everytime they try to get you to do something.

As for being an AMOG with the guys, you should pretty much just act buddy-buddy with them. I don't know a good way to describe it, and it depends a lot on your personality, but here's some examples of what I do:

-When you come into work, greet them with "What's up dawg?! How's it hanging? *High-five or some kind of "guy hug"*
-Compliment them (but in a subtley-condescending way): "Whoa dude, you've been working out? *squeeze his arms* "You're huge!"
-Plan after-work activities: "Hey, when we get off, I'm gonna go shoot some pool.. and you're coming with! Comeon, don't puss out!"
-Use alpha body language: If they try to get your attention, ignore them at first. Don't make eye contact when they're talking to you, but DO make eye contact when talking to them.

This will help

Amog-ing is very important for you confidence, but there is a time and a place for everything. Many people simply don’t have the option of being an Alpha at work because they are low on the totem pole and it would cost them their jobs. I suggest you find some other outlet for your Amog-ing needs. Like Amog-ing when your out sarging or doing something that makes you feel like a leader (like coaching). I find that people who can’t Amog people at work, usually end up taking it out on their friends or family; so it is important you find a healthy outlet to make you feel important and in charge of your life.

I have only read the post, but I am curious to know..

Why do you have to be alpha person at work? Considering this is a social shyness forum or part of the forum, it would not be considerate to just be able to socialise with everyone and socialise in a big group with new work mates?

Maybe you guys are too obsessed with getting laid, that your not focusing on the issues that really make you feel shy and beta and all that shit.

So I just skimmed abit of the thread, so AMOG-ing, putting other people down, does that actually appeal to you? Do you feel better putting other people down so you feel better about yourself, isn't that just what the actual AMOG is doing?

Post subject:  Jeeves & Wooster

You can totally be the Alpha at work, no matter what your position.

The best example of this EVER is 'Jeeves and Wooster' (a British sit-com). It starred Hugh Laurie as Bertie Wooster, a jovial but empty-headed young gentleman, and Stephen Fry as Jeeves, his improbably well-informed and talented valet. (quoted from Wiki). Despite being the valet Jeeves is definetely in control, a total Alpha.

As stated above you need to be on top of your job, so you rarely if ever need to be asked to do anything. You know your responsibilities, so make sure you are doing them.

Think of your role as the most important. If you're job is to clean tables, then everyone else has to do their job to create work for you. The waitress must take orders, the chef must cook the food, waitresses must deliver the food to the table, customers must eat the food etc. all of this is done so that you can clean the tables. In this way their roles are subordinate to yours. They are just prepping for you :)

Say this to them 'Hey waitress, get on and take some orders FOR ME so that I can sort it all out'. (do this C+F)

Also, people say don't mix business and pleasure. This is Beta to the max :) I am the same person wherever I am. Don't be a social chameleon. Remain congruent all the time. Be yourself, and make no excuses for who you are and what you do.

Peace
