Hey guys, I have been wrestling with this question lately and want some opinions. When someone says "Thank you" should you respond with "No problem", "Your welcome", etc. ? Is it Alpha or is it just rude to choose not too respond? What if it's in a text? |

That's an interesting question. I was thinking about how I responded to thank you's the other day. My theory is we respond so that we can get the last word in. But we also respond differently to different people. This is the conclusion to my thoughts on the subject. Personally I seem to react with a situational response. Answering "Thank You" is usually a programmed response that we naturally react to. If I'm with a woman I want to sleep with and she says thank you, I usually respond with "my pleasure". There are 2 reasons for this. It says that I'm polite. It also suggests that I did it for me more than her, which keeps them guessing...I think. If it's a girl I'm interested in but it's like a first date, she gets a "humm? I'm sorry, what did I do?" kind of reaction. I basically pretend I don't realise what I did. For example if she drops her purse, after scanning the spilt contents for a condom, I pick it up and help put it back for her. I get her to validate me in her own words. This also seems to give me a chance to elevate myself over other guys if she says people don't usually do that for her (You've been hanging out with the wrong people). If it's just a waiter at a table I just acknowledge the guy with something like "Alright fella, cheers." It's casual, respectful, but also shows me in a good alpha light. |

try saying both you're welcome and no problem at the same time. REMEMBER, you're being original and authentic! |
Hey guys, I have been wrestling with this question lately and want some opinions. When someone says "Thank you" should you respond with "No problem", "Your welcome", etc. ? Is it Alpha or is it just rude to choose not too respond? What if it's in a text?
I go with: "Don't mention it" (1.its a command 2. implies you didn't need them to say anything, you did it because it was the right thing to do and because you wanted to, not for an ulterior motive of making them feel obligated to reciprocate) "No thanks needed/necessary" (necessary if you think they are just a genuinely nice person, needed if they seem like they're trying to play mind games, play dumb to get you to do something they don't feel like doing that you dont want to do and/or frame things as you working for them and you were "complying"; i've been observing compliance games at work) "Yup" (works good sometimes, it's kinda neutral) "Oh no!.. (pause).. thank YOU!" double guns finger point, eye brows raised, option to smirk -or- "No.. thank you.. I learned to (what you gained from the scenario; reason your value is now higher) Avoid "your welcome", its too nice.. as if your purpose in life is to serve them.. |
