| Post subject: | PUA Nickname |
Alright, I've been fretting over this for a little while now. I can't decide which pua nickname I want to keep for the long term. So, I think the best people to talk to are other puas! Don't label this as being unimportant! I know it's unimportant, that's why I'm putting it in "miscellaneous stuff" Alright, I have narrowed it to 2 choices: 1. Weasley 2. Edge Okay, Weasley is a nickname I got from work. For a little background on this I have red hair. On the day of my first interview at my job several co-workers were talking about the "guy applying". Out of the blue one of them mentions "That kid looks like Ron Weasley!" Well, I did get the job and kept the nickname. Sadly the one who gave it to me is no longer with us but I still refer to myself that way at work out of respect to him. Edge is just a nickname that I think sounds cool, like Style, Mystery, Sinn, Gambler, Juggler, etc. If I keep Weasley as a pua name it gives me an interesting story that I can use in the field as well as being a pop culture reference. But, calling myself edge sounds more "cool" and I can pass it off as my actual name and make a few routines out of it. Additionally, it embodies my pua philosophy of getting an EDGE on the competition. Opinions? |

Quote: You pick a name that describes you. You don't choose a name because it sounds cool. Having a DHV story attached to your name is much better than picking some random name.
The gambler one makes sense but wouldn't a magician be more inclined to use the name "Spells" or just "Magic"? When I think simply of the word mystery I personally picture a sherlock holmes type thing.
Mystery has that name because he is a magician. Gambler has that name because (to my understanding) he plays the stock market. Weasley fits way better than Edge. |

See I recon Weasley sounds a bit harry potterish, where as Edge is more unique and will be more likely to be remembered. |

Most PUAs look for a nickname with an edge to it, I suppose Edge would work. lol |

In my experience, your friends who know you the best give you your nickname. You can't just pick one. If you can't get one that way, then you haven't earned one yet. So consider any nickname you pick between now and then temporary. Such as the two you have up for votes. Temporary. Shalom. |

yeah i agree. i got mine from my last name ending in "Bed" and my fist having so much power behind it that it feels like someone hit you in the head with a rock... thus forming Bedrock. I got it after i beat the shit out of some drunk idiot who was yelling at one of my chick friends. I later made friends with the guy cuz he explained to me that all he remembers is before he was drunk he was having a really really bad day. And then he gave me my nickname. For you I would say stick to Weasley until you get a more interesting nickname. |

Okay, as if this wasn't complex enough I have another possible name. I recently worked on a film in a competition. the storyline was about a has-been 80s star and his band members. I invented a character that was kind of my alter ego. He didn't end up in the final script but his character was still an interesting one. His name: Shuttlecock Opinions? |

Edge sounds a bit try hard to me, especially if your only justification for using it is because it "sounds cool".. your name should somehow be linked to yourself, I got my name because my surname is also the name of a well know soup brand..yeah it isnt incesently cool but you shouldnt try to sound like youre a superhero either weasley sounds just fine to me |

Im guessing your friends will call you the nickname they have given you and you won't be introducing yourself to women with the name so why does it matter what it is, my name came from a car number plate someone made for my 20th birthday because I was dressing up as a robot and Jason is my name. As for the names you have Weasley, whilst good in context sounds a tad like weasel. Edge is the guy from U2 and I would avoid anything with cock in it. Just stick with Weasley |

I'm sort of having the same problem really. My mates call me woody, but headstock is a name i use on another forum, and is also a part on a guitar ( so as i do guitar teaching and am a guitar player i thought fitted quite well) so what does anyone think of mine? Also weasley, i personally think that edge is a good name, because it is simple, one sylable, and as such is easy to remember. But if you was to use that, i'd make up a back story for it. Headstock |

Whats in a name, as long as you can DHV/funny story using it (personal experience will always come across better) then why worry? You can change it in field anytime, here its just a name to be known by.. Jifclown suits me cos I was a clown/juggler and used that as my name for the kids. Also it resembles my real name, would miss not using it, due to its heritage it can give me a strong base for my inner game.. Use whatever makes you feel comfortable and strong as a person, any negative conotations a name has will only bring you down.. Mine makes me smile.. J1f-Clown (my avatar - is me breathing fire) |

Roxstar's from a bunch of places. I play the guitar, I like Rock music, for school there was 'Dress like a Celebrity Rockstar' day and I tattooed 'Roxstar' on my forearm, and I did the last one because it's similar to my last name. Last name's Roxas and I heard a few years ago, "Rox -ASS!" It sounded pretty awesome. And made it easier for others to remember. |

Don't define yourself with a childish nick. You are more and you are less than just a name. Think about that. A nick will forever box you in. Just be. Empty your mind of such waste. Go out and live. Just live! |
