I never concerned myself much with alimony. I thought i wont be stupid enough to suffer from it, and that judicial system is fair in use of alimony. But today i learned in detail what the law says about alimony in my country: if you are the father(genetically), you must pay 17-50% of average income(NATIONAL average income , not yours which may be less or more; can be big difference) until child turn age 18-26(depends on court orders). One slip-up(pardon the pun) and you can become financially crippled for two decades of your life. No other legal condition is needed other than genes for you to have to pay!!! There is nothing you can do to get out... You can interfere with the payments, but it can backfire because that is considered criminal offense. I heard of some poor bastard in america which had some kind of agreement with sperm bank and his ex. Long story short, he got alimony but no pussy. All legal!!! Even if i get some pussy, should i suffer for two decades of my life because of not sticking around afterwards?! Well my law says i have to, and fuck you... As a guy, i feel angry and hopeless because of it... Whats your thoughts? |

Well, you should have to contribute to your child's upbringing. You can't pussy out of that and drop all responsibilities however it should be based on your own means not your countries national average but I think that's probably more to safeguard the child from poverty and push you to get a decent job and not laze about. |

Morally yes, you should support your child. Even naturally, we are hardwired to do so, albeit that is not much in males. But should it be like that always? Maybe you dont want to raise children right now in your life, or you denounce of your father rights and youre still cornered by law. You cant really say that woman doesnt also have options. Needs to be mentioned that law in my country is not the same as elsewhere, they are not always so...easily exploited by women. Thing that angered me at first were double standards. Law protect natural female mating strategy fiercely, while male natural instincts and behavior are at best ignored and at worst prosecuted on sight. Worst thing for a woman is to be abandoned by the father of her child, and worst thing for thing for a man is to raise another mans child unknowingly. Our bodies and minds were shaped by evolution to prevent this from happening. Woman's shit-tests, male sperm count and "sperm wars", you'll shit a brick when you see it in people. Law, as extension of our fears and desires, follows female needs a lot, but it is not always the same with men. But guys, there is light at the end of the tunnel: paternity fraud reimbursement. Law does protect fathers also, but you need more than simple paternity test, as is for alimony, to prove this one on court(btw, you can get it for a couple hundred bucks and know if youre in that unlucky 1 in 15). It can happen,and laws allow it, so my argument that laws are wrong is not really that strong anymore. Maybe it is the problem of the socio-economic environment by which laws are enforced. Over the last century women rights have been just growing(default pay, political influence, public image), but growth of their responsibilities is lacking behind. The have higher average income and job opportunities, but things like alimony and radical feminism are not going away. Its called having your cake and eating it. Things are changing though, booth genders are going towards that middle ground of equality where gender roles disappear. We will see if thats a good thing. Also i found out that some countries are working on reforms on marital law in response to increasing gender equality. Meanwhile, you gotta accept that some men are going to get royally fucked over in this transition period. Maybe even some women. |

You are mixing alimony and child support, as far as i see it child support is fine as long as father gets to see his kid regularly, but if the father gets the custody mother should likewise pay(not happening very often). Alimony is paying ex wife not for the child but so she need not work, that is unfair in my opinion and should be canceled, it may have made sense when women were not working but it sure as hell makes no sense now. |
