Post subject:  Evaluation of texts.

So an idea occurred to me recently, but to explain where it came from I should start with a little background for context.

I told a recent ex I was busy earlier Friday and that I would get back with her later that night. I called and she didn't answer, which kinda sucked but I didn't put much thought into it then. After I had passed out she called, which means I didn't answer. This is what she sent me:

"Hey, I want you to know I denied your call because I was in the middle of my math placement test online for ... I couldn't talk. We're having a yard sale tomorrow so I have to be up around 8 so I can't really chat now. I didn't expect that exam to take that long, sorry. I will text you tomorrow. Goodnight."

I didn't reply or anything. Didn't really feel like talking at all at that point, so when she sent me this in the afternoon, I didn't respond:

"How's your day going."

About 4 hours later she sends me:

"Are we okay?"

At this point I was at a weekend 4th of July party so I was occupied. I got home probably around midnight and immediately fell asleep. About 2:30 I get this message from her:

"I understand that you have your own life and you're busy as of late, but a text back just to know you're okay would be nice. I'm going to bed. I hope you had a good night."

When I woke up and saw that is when the idea hit me. Texts are of equal or greater value than the context of the message indicates. So if a girl says she likes you, it either is equal (she really does just like you) or it's greater (she is interested more so than she is letting on.) If a numeric system could be applied to indicate intent, my assumption is a curve can be established to cut more "fat" out of text game and create a quicker reach to our goals.

Later I get a message from a mutual friend of the ex and I, as she had contacted her wondering what's going on with me thinking I was ignoring her because she rejected my call Friday night, which didn't even factor into all this. To me ,even if associated in anger, seems like a lot more investment than I would expect. I ran this by a PUA friend who thinks testing it is worth the exploration, which is why I'm here. If anyone is interested in this idea and wants to participate, I think it would be really helpful to us all. I was told to respond to her though, because any longer and it would be detrimental to our relation/friendship I guess one would call it. So to finish up this is where she and I are at:

"I had to get out of the house Saturday for personal reasons, so I went to a redneck independence party. I'm sorry I worried you.

It's fine, I just thought I'd hear back from you."

My hypothesis again is as follows. Texts are of equal or greater value than the intent expressed.
