Post subject:  Life situation regressing into downhill spiral...

I am going to attempt to condense some background info and my life situation SPAM, as I now how annoying posts are which just contain some guys life story with no point, but bare with me and we'll get somewhere.

In terms of my overall life I try to stay intensely healthy (paleo, intermittent fasting), game a few times a week, read a lot, meditate, work out and stay clear of excesses e.g. smoking, drinking, drugs, bad foods. I maintained very good habits for about 9 months and was super motivated.

However my life of late seems to by going backwards for about a month. My diet is jumbled up super healthy some days/ terrible others, i am rarely exercising, my gaming has gone right down, mostly just going on day2s with girls i already know (no fresh leads), started getting drunk and smoking again, which annoys me quite a lot.

On the plus side I am still reading a lot and meditating a lot, but even this is very sporadic.

I tried multiple times to just 'man up' and go super healthy/ productive in terms of life but i keep failing. I want to be in the state I was before this bad period but every time I try, I fail. Basically the going 'cold turkey' method is not working.

Have any of you guys been through a similar regression, and how have you conquered it?

You lack discipline. Who doesn't? You really need to cut loose the drinking and smoking, it's no good. Make living a healthy, substance abuse-free lifestyle your number one priority. Give yourself one cheat day per week on food, then stick to a reasonable diet the other six days. Continue to go sarging whenever and wherever you can. Don't set goals for how many women to meet or fuck, but just continue sarging with the mindset you will never quit.

You're one of those people who has high expectations for themselves, then invariably let's themself down, then you punish yourself. It's a viscious cycle of enthusiastic optimism and self-destructive shame spiraling. You need to find balance, possibly through your meditation.

These things go in cycles. Identifying your personal highs and lows will help you navigate the lows and reduce the impact they have on your life. One thing that helps is not getting attached to the highs. WHen things are going well and you feel great, remind yourself that everything will pass with time. Never believe in the absolute existence of anything in this world, it will only lead to trouble. Everything in this world can change and pass away.

A lot of this is just mental. Life is life. You feel this way, you think that way. More meditation will help you understand.

You can go write up why you enjoy your healthy diet and not drinking.

How I maintain it is basically I want something more than my "sacrifice" in other words I enjoy feeling good after eating healthy rather than the momentary taste of the hamburger or candy or whatever else. I enjoy working out because of the increased libido and more energy, just feeling better.

It's ok to fall back here and there it happens to the best of us, the point is to minimize these occurrences by knowing what you want and why you want it. Realize that if your motivation is to be more attractive for women rather than yourself you won't do it for long because it will be in congruent with what you actually want for yourself. If however you want to do it for you then you'll do it with more conviction because it will feel "right".

Basically overall you want to write down these key aspects:

-Life purpose - What do you want out of life(wife, job, etc. )
-Life Goals - What is it you want to do? Travel, retire early, millionaire, etc.
-SMART Goals- You want to create small goals that move you towards your life goals and life purpose.
-Your Actions to put you on pace to gain what you want (if you want to get a wife you need to introduce yourself to girls, if you want to become a doctor you need to look at colleges, work out and eat right to be healthy, etc.)

After that you seriously just need to act on your own formed desires and keep reminding yourself daily and memorize your life direction. You'll always be updating it, after all your short term goals should really only be like a month or two that contribute to what could be decades worth of goals.

When ever I find myself off track it's because I wasn't reading my goals and realizing my overall life direction and purpose. Then I get back to that and I'm back on track doing what I need to do, you need to do this too give yourself direction and purpose and each action feels better and more significant.

Just what I do...

Peace and Love,

Vic

You'll look back in a couple months and laugh at why you were depressed now. That's how it always works.

Stay strong, stay around positive people, be healthy, a big thing is find something new. Find some novelty in your life.

Best of luck, ride it out and I'm sure you'll be fine.

It is comforting being supported by people, (even if it is over an internet forum).

I do need to realise the ups and downs cycle, and not let it get to me, acceptance and non attachment to certain life situations as well.

The idea of reminding myself of why I aim to culivate good habits will help to motivate me. I have never been a big fan of goal setting, but having an overall purpose and vision in my actions will help to stay on the right track.

More meditation is always good, perhaps the most valued thing in my life, as despite my antics of late, it has remained on a high level and quality.

Writing this post has helped me clarify things in my mind.
