I've always been a sneakers kinda guy and I really want to break the habit lately. Don't get me wrong, my sneakers are always trendy and high end designer, always kept clean, and matching with my outfit but I've been trying to get into boots lately. What I'm going for is an unlaced look with jeans floating over them. Doc Martens are a bit too "UK Hooligan/Punk Rock" for me and I can't find a nice style from their catalog. Diesel boots are nice but they cost a fortune. I was looking at Bed Stu too through an American Eagle catalog and they have some decent boots. Any recommendations? Something vintage looking like faded leather or something, preferably black and don't rise too high past my ankle. Also, pictures would help a lot! |

Just like you, I was a sneaker guy forever. I have more pairs of Airforce 1's than I know what to do with. Always clean, and always matching. As I get older though, I've heard more and more recommendations from women concerning footwear. So I adapted and branched out into boots. I've owned a pair of those Bed Stu's in the past and retired them in favor of cowboy boots. I've also got a pair of motorcycle boots that I wear from time to time. I prefer boots over dress shoes because I like the extra height. The heel forces me to focus on my posture and body language which is always a plus. I was thinking some lace up boots just for casual wear with jeans. These are the ones that caught my eye in the AE catalog but they only have size 13's... http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.js ... cat2770116 Maybe something more along the lines of a combat boot though. I'm new to the world of boots haha but I always like big tongues (I almost exclusively wear unlaced high top sneakers at the moment) |

I did a tour in Iraq, you couldn't pay me to ever wear combat boots again lol. Those boots in your link are pretty badass though. Check around and see if some other retailers have something similar. |

Personally i think sneakers are better then boots. Sneakers are clean and tight while boots are kinda groofy.. |

Personally for night game I love loafers when coupled with a blazer. It's funny to me how something as simple as a pair of loafers can impress girls. If every other dude in the club has Converse or some bullshit on loafers almost act as some kind of footwear DHV! Does anyone know how much truth there is to the old cliche that a man is judged primarily by his footwear? |

Yeah I hear that! Depends where I am though. I always bend the limit of "over dressing" for something. I just notch my style up one step above what everyone in the situation would be wearing. I.E. College Frat Party... Everyone's wearing t-shirts and flip flops, I'll wear a button down and nice sneakers. Dive bar.... Everyones wearing button downs and jeans, I'll wear a nice jacket and khakis. etc etc... Combat/work boots unlaced like that would be great for school or casual places because they have more style and personality than just sneakers. I've also been trying to get into loafers and boat shoes but I'm still trying to find a cool style to go with them. |

Yeah dressing one step above the rest is the way to go in most situations. I like wearing leather loafers with dark, well fitting designer jeans, a v neck tee and a blazer. That's my 'go-to' night game outfit, very effortless but looks good in most mid-level clubs. Boat shoes are cool with chinos or shorts as like a slightly smarter casual option than sneakers. The blog Fashion Beans is literally the best and most accessible source I've found for style advice. Definitely would recommend it to anyone
