Post subject:  Do you really think it's necessary to follow all these rules

This is just my personal opinion, but after reading all the techniques, checking out all of David D's material, and some other stuff, I've come to the personal decision that following every technique that you read about is silly, if not unhealthy for you. It seems like many of the people who have gotten into PUA have forgotten that there actually were AFC's who had girlfriends once, and still do. Before I got into this, I had less confidence and less understanding of how girls think, but I had still gotten girls interested in me. I think that people are over thinking how to run routines and do things, and are focusing less on the very important PUA concept of not worrying.

I think that focusing on the routines that the books teach you, and thinking real hard about how to say everything is hurtful to you. Running someone else's game to get girls is getting girls to like you over what someone else said. It's important that you guys remember the important aspects of getting girls, and leaving the rest up to being you. Getting girls to like you cause of someone else is shallow and will end up leaving you feeling empty when you get into a situation, and most likely her leaving you, cause you'll fall from the routine you've been running for the past 6 months.

I think people need to understand that just not worrying so much about what people think of you, having fun, and being confident in your actions is the key part of getting the women you want. You can do all that, and still be yourself. I think this all remains true unless you wanna just have random sex with strangers all the time. Then I say go use The Mystery Method or whatever book you want. But it's just my personal opinion that this will lose its fun, and will leave you feeling empty eventually, and it looks like a lot of people on here want more than that anyways.

I guess that was just a half rant or whatever. Feel free to drop opinions or whatever.

Bingo.

You're the shit. Quote me on that.

I can already tell if you go out consistantly and push yourself, you will be one of the top guys.

What David said.

Plus, the problem is... too many guys get into this, and suddenly adopt this 'I AM A PUA' mindset, or persona, and that is the most harmful thing to you. They think everything they do has to follow a certain set of rules, or that they or something different.

It gives a lot of guys a sense of importance, or/and a sense of belonging. They then seperate people like this... they think people are either;

AFC / AMOG / NATURAL / HB(1-10[11]) / PUA

They seperate themselfs from others, and see themselfs as some different kind of species almost. And they forget that everyone, including them, are just people.

Love your whole post, but this part especially. I think so many people in the "General Questions" section should just be redirected to this phrase, instead of wasting people's time asking the same questions.

I think the goal of the PUA community is (or should be) to help guys adopt more of the personality traits that women find attractive. The canned openers, preplanned negs...they're alright. But being a more confident, less chumpy version of yourself is the ultimate goal.

I totally agree with what you say. But to my opinion, these rules, openers, routines etc. should be there.

There are a lot of guys who live in a complete isolation. These are the real afc. the ones who play world of warcraft until they drop.

they have no clue of what to say, how things work etc.

now you can say: "yeah just come out of your comfort zone, go out, do something, join a club, go hiking, and become confident in what you do blablabla"

true, but many guys don't see the message in this. they need guidelines, something to hold on. they'll ask questions, and people answer things like "just tease the girl, don't be needy, be humorous, e interesting, etc."

but they do not know how to be interesting, humorous, and to be the price. instead of teasing girls, they will insult them, instead of making a good joke, they will fart and say "did you heared that one? oh wait! here comes an other one ... aarg silent but deadly!", and if they want to be interesting, they'll say "i fed my rat this morning. he was so hungry! i think he's so cute".

You shouldn't see those pick up lines as holy, like the lines in the bible, absolutely not, but at least as an example. you then know better in which category the things are you got to say. when you only know things to say about your pet rat, you can use memoried lines so you know what to say instead of the stupid things.

i think everyone starting from zero, or those who failed relationships because of afc-ness, should start reading the routines, openers etc. it will help them. in combination with an attractive lifestyle and a growing confidence, you may find yourself at a stage where you can get girls without those lines. you can then take distance from all the theory if you want to.

the thing what i see with some people is that after they become great at pick up, or more natural, they start to be ashamed of the game and the lines they used to use, and they start to turn against them. they propagate a "just be yourself, confident, and have an attractive lifestyle" ideal, focussing more heavily on inner game. but those people shouldn't be ashamed of it, because although they don't need them anymore and became more natural, it still made them the way they are now.

good post!
Yeah they are actually supposed to be ways to help with sticking points. Too many people try to use all the 'rules'. They are just strategies that a particular PUA has used to solve a particular problem.

This actually reminds me of the RSD video I just saw.

The whole concept of "The self is always coming through" seems highly relevant. Basically, if you're an awesome dude, then you can break most of the rules and still get the lay.

Again, props on some real good shit.
