Ok, if you look at every single ralph lauren model wearing a polo they ALL have popped collars, sometimes two. HOWEVER, I have heard NO END of criticism about popped collars at my college (i.e. "Omg look at that guy with a popped collar, what a toolbag"). What's the deal here? It seems like the new style, but a lot of people seem to equate it with being a tool. What's the answer if collar down = boring and collar up = tool? |

Collar up:don't do it. It's not clever and it's not funny. Actually, maybe it's a little funny, but only to the people laughing at you. Seriously man, don't do it. |

If I had a picture of you I could tell you. It has to be something you can "pull off" some people just dont look good in it. Those models have chiseled jaw lines and are thin!! Polo models tend to be smaller guys tall and thin fit. Good news to you smaller build guys! So my point being is that if you feel like it makes you more confident to pop it then do it. If you can make yourself feel confident other ways then do that. Also popped collars must be on guys with short hair. It also is done with a more fitted shirt, it can't be done with a baggy polo shirt. Also a popped collar never sticks staright up, all the way around take a look at the link I sent.. Looking at your pic here I would think it makes you look younger than you are. Also when you weara suit coat keep your collar tucked in your suit coat with folded nicely and along your coat collar inside the coat. Please do not pull the collaroutside of the coat unless you want to look like John Travolta.. up to you.. http://www.ralphlauren.com/family/index ... sopen_Mtlp polo example look the shirt fits guys always wear clothes thatare too big and I would like them to realize that there is a difference between oversize, fit and snug. Where you live is a heavy deciding factor on if you can do it or not. In New England, popped collars are readily acceptable. At my university in PA, only somewhat acceptable. Down south, only certain people in certain towns can pull it off. Some places will beat you up for doing it. It all depends on your location and if you wear it with confidence. I do it with certain shirts at certain parties. There are a lot of variables... haha... |

I've always considered the popped collar in ads a marketing move. It shows off the shirt, including the collar, to the best effect. I tend to follow Dolce and Gabanna; cowboy casuals and tapered jeans, here I come! |
