The Formula for Success

Success can be broken down into a formula.

Knowlege + Physical Capability + Confidence + Drive + Opportunity = Success

This is the formula in it's most basic form.

Let's take a look at each component in depth.

Knowlege - To know exactly what has to be done to induce the desired result.

To be able to do something, you gotta KNOW how to do it. There's technique, there's a process that must be completed. You have to know and understand that process to be able to complete the task.

Physical Capability - To have the muscular or intellectual capacity to execute
what needs to be done.

You can't lift a box if you're not physically strong enough; you can't learn you don't have a good enough memory to remember.

Confidence - To be sure that you are able to do what needs to be done. This may have
to be developed through practice and it will surely increase as knowledge and physical
capability increase.

If you've told yourself it can't be done, it can't be done, end of. You must expect, or at least consider, success as a possibility.

Drive - To want the result enough to stick through to the end, despite it being
difficult.

Now, this is an interesting one. In a way, drive is actually the key component to the formula. We could actually use this as the formula:

Drive = Success

If a person's drive to succeed is strong enough, they will be willing to gain the other necessary components to complete the task. Drive is very, very powerful. Driven people rule the world; it's ironic that drive is in fact a product of insecurity.

Opportunity - To have the chance to do what needs to be done for the desired result.
This can take many different forms.

Gotta be in the right place at the right time. Sometimes it's lucky, sometimes you can put yourself there. If you obtain the other components, when the opportunity arrives, you will succeed.

Since this thread didn't address a technical issue, I moved it to the Lounge. Please post in the appropriate sections from now on.

Success is not a formula. Sorry, it just isn't. No wonder so many of you boys are so fucking miserable. Success cannot be defined. Get over it.

It is because of this mentality why America continues to produce miserable fuck after miserable fuck.

Haha...ironic...seems like the speaker could do with a dose of his own diagnosis :P.

I think this is very interesting, though I don't think it will actually help anyone in any way. I'm impressed by the way you got so many different factors to cover all the angles that contribute towards success...at face value I couldn't find a counterexample in a few seconds.

Not that any of this really has any relevance to anything.

At all.

*smirks*

So you kids know, these three articles are my articles.

I asked Sticky to post them for me because my laptop is on the blink.

I would appreciate you withholding your petty judgements from my pivot, especially about things she didn't write.
