Post subject:  Does Your House Scream AFC?

About two weeks ago, after work, I got home feeling like I'd stopped a moving train with my balls. Was tired and just sapped of the will to scratch my nut-sack, cook or shit. But I looked at my condo and said, "Fuck it, I want this place to represent me as a hard-working dude that happens to appreciate new pussy and exciting, intelligent women."

First thing I did was remove the Japanese painting above my main couch. I replaced it with a smaller painting of a hispanic-looking woman eating a green apple. She looks sensual in the painting and it gives me the drive every night to bring back women that look as good as she does.

What I want to do next is slowly toss away the nasty shit that throws me right in there with the chump population. I'm throwing away the Tits&Ass magazines - I dont need to look at HBs on paper when I'm already doing my best to bring them home. I'm getting rid of the hideous, brown Cambodian wall drape that I thought made me look well-travelled but basically an idiot.

Our apartments, dorm rooms, houses and condos are meant to be places HBs are comfortable enough to return to...or bring their HB friends around (that's more action for you, old son). Share your thoughts if you're keeping four-year old unwrapped condoms or something you wanna let go off.

SIMPLE DO FOR THIS THREAD: ADD THE ONE THING YOU WANT TO GET FOR YOUR HOUSE THAT SAYS, "I'M NOT AN AFC". NOT ONLY WILL YOU HELP ME GET MY PLACE DONE UP (fuck those gay, overcharging interior designers - LOL), BUT ALSO GIVE THE GUYS MOVING INTO THEIR FIRST HOUSES SOME IDEAS FOR SETTING UP A SEXY, CONFIDENT ENVIRONMENT.

Great Post!

There are lots of things we all can do to change the way the place feels. One of them is backlighting things to make a softer light in the space. You can put lights behind large objects like couches and chairs so that it's not a direct light shining on you. This makes it more comfortable and more romantic at the same time.

I can't say enough about candles. They are a great thing to have in your place, and they don't cost much.

Plant life helps as well. It gives some color to the place but it also can take smaller places and make them feel a bit more livable.

Plus you can do a lot with different kinds of lighting. In the picture below I had my apartment like that for a while, then I changed it about twice since that point. Still, it's fun to play around with it to set the different moods. TIP: Stick to warmer colors!

Technology - leaving out laptops or other computers is a good thing.

Magazines - Like cunning linguist mentioned through out the T&A magazines and get a real subscription to something.

There are all kinds of stuff you can do. There are also a lot of articles online about things to do to smaller spaces to make them look and feel better. The girl should be "comfortable" when she walks in your place.

Nice one, J! Good to see the shag-pad!

I agree about the lighting, I'm getting a new set that I can dim or brighten depending on whether I want to freeze out or escalate. But candles are certainly a thought...

cheers

Have a guitar lying around. For some reason, nearly everyone loves messing around with my guitar when they come over.

I also keep a bar in plain sight for everyone to see when they come over. Since it was not right when you walked in I put a neon bar sign next to it to highlight it a bit. This is good. So is having girl beers and wines around the place. :) It's visually pleasing, low investment, and looks like you host more people than you do.

DISCLAIMER: I don't use alcohol to seduce people. But I am kind and offer everyone a drink when they walk in if they want one.

*BTW, that table no longer exists. It's now a high top wooden table, with the bar chair style.*

This is a very interesting thread. For those of you who don't already know, I am part of the Tiny House Movement (info here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/11/garde ... .html?_r=1), a minimalist "society" of sorts that promotes living in the smallest space possible. People are in it for lots of different reasons--some are environmentalists, some want homes small enough they can carry them around on trailers and tour the country. I am a part of it because honestly, I'm a young single male who spends little time at home. Having a big, elaborate house would be a waste of money and energy. Tyler Durden (the character in Fight Club, not the PUA) said it best: the things you own end up owning you. So I own as little as possible :)

Mine is one of the larger houses in the movement at 400 square feet (some guys live in <100 square feet). It consists of a bedroom, living room, dining/kitchen area and small bathroom. My electric bill is usually less than $30 a month.

How does this all relate to women? We all know the ladies love us for our quirks and idiosyncrasies, and this is a prime example. The first time a girl comes to my place, rather than useless small-talk I get to speak about an interesting topic I'm truly passionate about with a great backstory (what I've typed here is only a small portion of the spiel I usually give). Not only that, but sizing down your home provides you the opportunity to build it using higher-quality materials for a relatively small amount of money, so I still get the so-called "DHV" of a larger (and thus more expensive-looking) home.

As for decor, I have very little, keeping with the minimalist theme, but I do have a sort of beach-house vibe going on with bamboo fan blades, rattan window shades, hemp area rugs and hardwood floors. The few decorations I do have came from Romancing the Stone or were gifts along the same theme.

Your boy,

You want to try Leffe, a nice "manly" beer infused with spices and stuff. It's gorgeous. Haven't heard any complaints from any girls that have tried it either.

Sticking with the theme of the thread, staying in university accomodation I'm very restricted to what I can do with my room but 9 times out of 10 the first thing a girl notices in my room is my dvd collection. I always get good comments on it "oooo you got ___, great film!" etc etc. Either I'm lucky in that all the girls I meet have the same shit taste as me  or they're all just polite.

As far as adding one thing to my house (which i'll be moving into over the summer) I'm thinking about shopping around soon to find some really unique lighting for my bed room and living room. Got a friend who's into the engineering side of music as well as playing it, so I'm thinking maybe getting him to hook it all up and synchronise it with my music or something.

that room looks very cool in a photo, ...but isnt it depressing to be surrounded by blue? That stick to warm colors tip is clearly from experience :P

now lets put this creativity to the test...what suggestions do you have for a medium sized college dorm room? And keep the clutter in mind...you have so much basic survival stuff and only so much space, and possibly a roommate to complicate things (idk whether I'll have one yet).

A maid. Having a maid makes life so much easier. If not a maid a mother. Not the American style mother (the one who thinks she is still sexy after having children), but the Italian or Eastern European mother who cooks, cleans, and does your clothing for you until you are 45 and married. Hell, in Italy there is a company that will pick a man's dirty laundry up and transport it to his mother across the country who cleans the laundry and then sends it back via the same company that brought them to her.

Great post, it's got me thinking.

MY ROOM:
  • I have about 60 baseball caps hanging from my rafters. Each one tells a different story.
I also have guitars, keyboard, decks and other music making tools.
I have a collection of old school bottles and tins on display that I found myself.
Crossbow. (Hmm might take this down. It's not that it's AFC, it's more physco killer :? )
Dear antlers. (Read above comment, lol!)
IDEAS FOR A ROOM:
  • A fish tank would be cool, with some really pretty fish and some cool backlights. I think it would have a calming effect on the room and make your place seem more alive and interesting to a HB.

Actually you can't see it but at the time there were some orange and pink lights behind there. Anyways, I agree that blue was a bit too much after a while. I ended up changing the lights out with something "warmer" feeling, but it was really relaxing in there.
