It is my opinion that at any conscious moment, we are learning information at a fixed at steady rate. Only the content changes. You could be learning useful life skills, how to better communicate with friends, or figuring out how many fireballs you need to use while playing World of Warcraft. Knowledge is the fundamental basis of your personal success. Is the knowledge you are learning now conducive to your life's goals? Can you delay gratification and resist the expediency factor to change your learning habits? Imagine your future if you can. Think about it. |

I see your point but I disagree. We do not learn stuff at the same rate throughout life. It depends on what you experience. If you expose yourself to new experiences you will grow faster than if you stay at home. If I do the same things over and over then I will become better at them but not get any new skills. This is why you need to do stuff that you are not familiar with. Ezo |

I guess it depends on your definition of learning. Sitting in my room right now, doing nothing, I am learning more about the deficits in the paint on my ceiling, as well as a slight better understanding of my internal thought process, as well as a vast amount of other things. I think that the most valuable things we learn come from new experiences/materials, where insights can have a greater impact on one's life. Also by learning new things like this it helps to shape our identities in such a way that the process by which, and the characterization of future learnings can be changed. We do not learn stuff at the same rate throughout life. It depends on what you experience. If you expose yourself to new experiences you will grow faster than if you stay at home. If I do the same things over and over then I will become better at them but not get any new skills. This is why you need to do stuff that you are not familiar with. Ezo The use of believing in unproven models (whether it be positive affirmations or the theory of evolution) to better map and understand our world is an invaluable way to explain and predict occurrences within our environment and ourselves. Even if this isn't true and the amount we learn is not static, it does serve a purpose to treat this as an as-if belief to motivate yourself to do what is in our long-term best interest. Sometimes it's right to be wrong. |
