Post subject:  The Facebook Poke - How to respond?

For any of you that use facebook you will no doubt be familiar with the 'poke' tool.

Increasingly frequently I add a person I have just met and in return receive a poke from them (not as nice as it sounds, huh), not to mention pokes from girls I have met from a while back. To me this is a very tricky little interaction, as they have not said anything it is hard to respond. Previously I have just poked them back but then I often don't hear back. What I need is a catchy little whiticism, something non-commital but to get a conversation going. I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions?

"Do you always use physical violence to pick up guys?"

I used this on a waitress who was poking me.

Well, you could go snobb on her and easily say "Yeah I am real*smile*"

I take pokes as a positive sign of interaction, kind of like IOI in a way. If you poke back, don't expect to get poked back, I mean poking back and forth is only so much fun.

I think you are doing the right thing by writing on her wall after she poked you.

"Poking is so much more fun in person. Don't you agree?"

"Wow, you are wild! I just met you and you are poking me already. What's gonna be next?"

"Do you poke all the guys you know or just the ones you are hitting on?"
