First of all, pardon me if this is in the wrong section. Anyways, we all know the importance of negging. But I sometime find myself in the situation where I have to accept her DHL because she won against me in say something playful like thumb wrestling or say at a game of pool. Now in a particular incident, when I lost I said she has huge thumbs, which made her lagh a bit and shove me a bit (you know like she's embarrased). I'm hoping that was the right route to take. But for the pool one, I was negging her real often, seems kind of unbalanced if I switched to praising her. And I get the habit of thinking that I have to say something, without words I'm a chump (body language I know, I forget). So here's my questions, how should I react to losing to make it work to my advantage. I'd like to hear your opinions about this. |

If you loose a pool game then compliment her for her skills and then relate her to some pool obsessed looser. Say something like “wow, you’re a pretty stable pool shooting shimmy-shyster. I guess it’s true what they say: behind every good pool player there’s a wasted youth…” or if your at a crummy joint with the local bums hanging in the bar “man your good! I bet you spent more time down here then even that stud over there (point to sorriest, ugliest bum in the bar)”. In any kind of game I think that you should show that you accept that she has won, but then neg her about how much time she must have wasted in order to become good enough to beat you. Most importantly: don’t come of as a bad looser! Any civilized person knows that being a bad looser is a symptom of low self-esteem. |

Hey thanks, it's sort of what I was thinking but when you put that way, it puts everything back into perspective for me. I especially like your line, the wasted youth one. Very nice. Thanks for your input. If anyone else would like to comment, feel free. |
