If I'm not mistake hoop theory refers to the concept of making her "jump hoops". Compliance tests, such as squeezing her hand to see if she squeezes back.

Simply put: don't jump through her hoops, if she offers one for you to jump through then counter with your own hoop.

You can always ignore her hoop entirely.

Be wary not to turn into a "social robot" as mystery puts it. Sometimes its OK to jump through her hoop... usually after she's jumped through yours first :)

Quoted for fucking truth man, be sure to not follow the Method by every word. You can get around things just by maintaining your frame without using the method's teachings.

Well, I think your point is true but somewhat redundant. You can get around just about anything with the proper state of mind... or frame. If you have great frame and inner game, arguably, there is little use for this forum as a whole.

But I don't think that is what the OP was asking and thus my answer.

Mind you, the concept that "you can get around things just by maintaining your frame" is also something covered in MM ;)

My point is that too many people are reading the VAH and thinking they have to follow evey single word to the letter, then they get confused about things. Don't be afraid to stray away from the method is what I'm saying, just step outside your comfort zone every now and then to see how it plays out. Try going direct for a day or trying the Apocalypse during day game.

You get the idea, don't get so enthralled by the method that you don't believe in anything else.

to be honest i think A Minor is right... lets not blaspheme the MM. If i imagine some AFC who is REALLY REALLY bad, i would tell him to follow the MM word for word in the beginning. Through practice and use of the routine, you develop some expertise and then can start improvising. i think improvising before having the general framework is a recipe for disappointment. is it possible to become a PUA without MM... sure. but it's A LOT harder.

i'm not saying MM is the bible of pickup, but i think a lot of PUA's would agree that it's the best starting ground for AFC's. i think the whole point of MM is so that you can understand the philosophies and theories behind it and then develop your game naturally.

I think all three of us are correct. Yes, routines and literal interpretation is important at first but as time goes on you can improvise and such and eventually just do your own thing.

I am waiting for just that time hehe ;)
