I never understood this holiday- everything is overpriced, I have a sense of anxiety to please my significant other and I feel like I was only watching others do it so I had to. Not anymore. I won't celebrate "no mans day" anymore. I remember being in the flower shop and seeing a bunch of dudes buying these extravagant roses. 30-60 bucks was the average that I watched these dudes shell out. It was kind of ridiculous.

Valentines day is all about her and expected generosity (hence the anxiety) because it's demanded and it's expected. Honestly, the only reason I went along with with Valentines day is to not hear about it later. I pretty much paid for silence but not anymore. I'll just turn my phone off into airplane mode and enjoy my day like any regular other day while I people watch the suckers buying expensive gifts and jacked up prices on roses and candy. Hell, I'll drive by the favorite restaurants and watch all the couples wait in line for reservations...smh.

Gentleman if you have the cojones, boycott Valentines day.

Boycott Valentine's day?

Man, Valentines day is like the gold mine of the year. It's that magical day when all the lonely and hot college girls storm the clubs in hopes of not spending their "celebrate love night" alone. The amount of miniskirts in an otherwise soul piercing cold is absolutely ridiculous.
I'm not even joking man, it's awesome.

And as always, if you're in a relationship with a person that demands money be spent on her so that she can have something to show off social media, maybe you gave the gf title to the wrong girl.

I'll treat her to a hot bath and some scented oils. Maybe a massage and a mostly like failed attempt at a home-cooked dinner. Or maybe I'll take her to her favorite sushi place to eat until she can't breath no more. And on the way there I'll buy her a single flower in an overly exaggerated and mocking manner, because the princess must absolutely haveth a dead plant on thy glorious day.

So what if you're spending money man? I don't even see it as spending money, I see it as creating an experience. No one says you have to be sleezy and diabetically romantic in that classical way. Add your own personality to it as far as I'm concerned.

But what does boycotting accomplish? Suckers are gonna be suckers regardless of whether or not they came home with 60 roses.

I couldn't agree with this more. You can easily pluck a girl out of her group of girlfriends that are pretending to not want a guy on Valentines Day.

Eh, I am talking about buying things or celebrating it for your specific spouse. I'd definitely go out for the singles nights that the day creates though. Business as usual.

And eh, i can see you're mockery of Valentines day as a way to debunk it in a girls eyes which is another good alternative. I'm just avoiding the restaurants, the gifts, and the candy + roses at all costs.

Personally for me, if I'm in a relationship on Valentine's day then I'm going to do something for my girl and it'll be nice. Not nice for her, but for both of us. Like I've said in previous posts...I don't mind spending money on someone deserving of it as long as it isn't putting me in a financial bind. If I label one girl as my girlfriend, she's definitely deserving of spending money on...especially, on Valentine's Day.

Eh I see what you're saying but just not for me on that particular day.

On that day I just leave a bowl of those little heart candies out on the porch.

Am I the only guy who gets gifts on vday? I've given flowers jewelry and chocolates and gotten more than I've spent it return. In fact I usually receive gifts worth more on a dollar level which required more thought and effort than I spent. As rc said don't be with someone who is that demanding. Man if I boycott bday id be missing out. If you're with a chick expecting gifts and she hasn't put any effort into getting you gifts... Run.

Lol. This is such a good point. The last Valentine's day that I spent with an actual girlfriend, I bought dinner, and flowers, and concert tickets. It was probably a $300-350 evening. My gift in return was the 60" TV that's mounted on my wall right now. No longer with her but I think I came out ahead on that one.

I enjoy valentines day. This year I got my GF the set of plush direwolf pups since she is a huge fan of Game of Thrones and she gave me a hand made and assembled custom leather covered version of "The Prince" which I keep displayed on my bookcase.

If you have someone special then exchange meaningful gifts and spend the day together. If not then head to the bar and give some single lady a good fucking. Either way, enjoy valentines day.

Always going extreme, Assertive.

Some women don't care for Valentine's.

I am not that into Valentine's. The more I was in my relationship, the less I cared. Last one, I asked my ex to donate $25 to a charity of my choice.

When did I start caring more than usual? When my girl friends started flaunting their dates all over Facebook, posting pictures, and asking me, "So, what did X get you? I got this, this and that." I felt like it was a competition when it shouldn't be about that.

But I quickly cut that shit out - "Oh, look who's Ms. Golddigger here."

I get the pressure men feel, but really, a simple bouquet of flowers or a nice card, as long as you don't ignore Valentine's Day completely, is fine.

I never understood birthdays, nor Christmas. Everything is overpriced. I have a sense of anxiety to please my significant others.

Birthdays are all about that person and your expected generosity, hence the anxiety, because it's demanded and it's expected. Try coming empty handed to your dad's (or best friend's) birthday party. The atrocity.

Same with Christmas. Overpriced. Overrated. Overtly anticipated. There's no weaseling out of it.

Don't single out Valentine's day. Single out birthdays. Anniversaries. Christmas. And whatever else that involves gift giving.
