Post subject:  Accents as DHV

As strange as it seems I think that accents are one of the best DHVs, but they have some pitfalls to avoid as well.

I would suggest the book "Accents: A manual for actors" or if you can afford them lessons. Having three or four good accents definitely makes you stand out from all the AFCs. And it allows you do open, in my experience, most any set with most anything you say. Last week I opened a 5 set with 2 8s and 3 guys by asking them where the bathroom was.

I knew where it fucking was of course, but it opened perfectly. I went into a couple routines, and then dropped the accent. They asked why my voice changed, and I used it as a neg "Come on you knew that was fake right?" which got turned into a DHV because they couldn't tell it was fake, which meant I was good at it.

But I got stuck in one of the pitfalls, as style calls it "performing monkey mode".

I got the same exact routines to work again on a 4 set 8,9 and 2 dudes during the day but this time wasn't performing, I even blew out a BF (the 8). The girls started asking a ton of questions and I got some kino. It was great, the guys got annoyed and left. I had to go to class, so no closes, but it was nice to see it works outside of a bar.

I wonder if it could be an AMOG destroyer if done right?

Other pitfalls:
It has to be good/recognizable. Mine are mostly British: London, RP, Cockney, Australian, and then French.
Don't do it too long.
Try and avoid talking about it once you drop it.

Anything that locks the attention on you and rips the attention away from the other Alpha is an AMOG destroyer, as apparently you already found out, lol.

Good job on this.

And, welcome to the forum.

Accents are huge DHV's in the field, I saw this first hand when a coworker from Denmark (who had minimal game at the time) managed to close like nothing I'd seen before just with his accent alone.

Of course, having observed this, I developed a systematic approach to breaking and AMOGGing foreign accents in sets. Basically, imitate and destroy. Get the girl to laugh at your imitation of the guy, then do the ALPHA slap on the shoulder, followed by a comment about how imitation is the highest form of...

Hey, I'm SPAM all my techniques here... :P

With myself having a deep northern English accent, it would work very well for me in the US. It's not so hot in Europe, as the plucky brits have a habit of being ignorant numbnuts while on holiday which breeds contempt with the local populace. :(

Im originally from Poland and when I went to high school and tried to speak english all the girls would go to me and say "I love your accent" every fucking day till I was annoyed.

and guys would do the exact thing as Roads said, they will imitate and destroy, but today I know and I dont want to sound too arrogant that because I can speak in 3 languages it makes me a lot better than the guys who only speak one language :P.

When they do what Roads described, I automatically acknowledge that they trying to show dominance and put me down so I go into attack mode and say:

"dont hate because I can speak several languages and you just like every other average person only speaks one."

Sometimes they will try to replay with I wasnt hating on you or making fun of you, i would just say "yeah.. OK..w/e you say" with the sound that shows he is lying . And then i continue with a routine or question with the hb totally ignoring the guy, then he just leaves.

Or if girl said " hey!.. i can speak only one language too!" I would say: "Because I love your( neg about hair/clothing or w/e) i let you slide/get away with that one :)"

Yall have it lucky! The only accent I could maybe try pulling off would be a Russian accent or some type of African decent.
