Post subject:  Got a problem, a Social Disaster

Ok...I know this isnt really a pick up problem, but if things develop in the way they have been, my social life is going to suffer.

Last week I came up with this idea; make a BBQ, and inviting all the people that studies with us. The original idea was to make it on the house of "Janice".

I was the leader of the plan since day one, because I have this philosophy: "If you want a party to succeed, organize it yourself".

The response was great, everyone was coming. Everyone was excited, and even this HB9 I have a crush on, was going to attend the BBQ.

We started inviting people, and even a facebook event was posted on our local network.

When janice saw the event, posted this:

"Janice wrote:

Ohhh...you guys even put it on facebook, lol....sorry to disappoint you guys but the house wouldnt be avaliable this weekend (due to personal issues)

PD: How incompetent and daring people can be."

Ok..I know...the usual fuck up....maybe a misunderstanding...

I dont really care, but then I realized that "I" was the "head" of the BBQ......and if the BBQ is a "no go", people is going to blame me.

These people invited to the BBQ are my friends.....and I dont want to lose my friends and girlfriends because of some girl fuck up.

What can I do to distance myself of the disaster?

Personally contact her and find out what's really going on.

Yeah...but I probably would get mad at her for ditching us.

And besides, Its too late to fix it...I need to save my reputation!!!!

I dont care about what people thinks about me....but I dont want to be seen as the jackass that makes stuff up. Besides if people blames me, my future on the campus party scene will get trashed.

So this party has already happened? That's the only reason it would it would be too late. If it hasn't happened, you still need to contact her directly and see what's going on. Maybe it was a mistake on her part. You don't know yet. Also, you care about your rep, but you don't care what people think of you. You're contradicting yourself.

Is there a chance just to change where you can have the party?

You could also just postpone the BBQ blaming her in a nice way, but letting everyone know it wasn't your fault.

You can always change locations. There are parks and other places that you can hold a BBQ.

Worse case is pony up that the location is no longer good. Change it to a bar or something.

You could even talk to the Manager of the place. If enough people go, they will give you discounts.

Yeah, the postponement would suit you best. Just say its moved to next weekend at a more reliable location. Hype it up agian when your sure its a go. Besides, Ive been invited to countless parties that didnt follow thru and I didnt take it personally. As long as youre people know in advance that it aint gonna happen you should be alright.
