Hi everyone, I'm Kansas.

I finished reading The Game today and am left in a state of confusion. I get that when taken too far PUAs end up with more problems than solutions but are these methods proving effective for the novice?

To be a bit more succinct, If I don't commit my every evening to the method, does the method work?

I guess what I'm also asking is, in the book, Neil tells the story as a cautionary tale. Almost discouraging people from getting involved to begin with. But it was through the game that he got what he wanted. Bah... I'll stick with my original question.

Does being a PUA work for you?

The problem with the PUAs in "The Game" was that most of them were not big on inner game, and they used a lot of canned material. So they turned into social robots, stay away from canner material and you should be fine.

after reading the game i had the same thoughts.

when i started pick up i didn't want to be like any of the social robots described in the game, so i started doing small bits of PU making sure that i did not become obsessed with it. If you treat the game as a glorified hobby you will get good at the PU and you will also start to become more natural and be less likely to become obsessed :D

Welcome to the forum Kansas. Take it in little chunks, at your own pace. Learn and grow as you go along. And yes, it works for the novice, once you start applying the principles. In fact, since you've just read The Game, I would STRONGLY suggest reading The Venusian Arts Handbook. It will give you the foundation to build on. You can even use different principles from that book to start practicing here and there in your daily interactions, because those principles aren't just about picking up girls, they are about your interactions with everyone.

Look at it this way, those guys [in the book] did a lot of the ground work for you.
