Post subject:  Need some Feedback.

Three main approaches last night:

Approach #1:
Setting: small dorm party, eight people.
I was sitting between two girls on a couch watching two of my buddies play beer pong. I hadn't introduced myself or talked to the girls at all.
I see one of them is holding a travel mug.

"What's in the mug?" I ask.
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
"Yeah, I would."
"White rum.."
"Ew."
"and Dr. Pepper. It's not that bad."

Then I went on to talk about how much I hate hard liquor.

Lesson learned:
This was a boring opener. I should have raised the stakes.

Approach #2:
Setting: Dance party. Strobe lights, lots of people.
On the sides of the room are chairs that people are standing on. I see two girls standing on a chair, so I decide to join them. I am trying to think of something to open with, but I'm drawing blanks. I decide to do this:

"Hey, I'm Sharplin." I say this with an Australian accent.
"Hey, I'm Jessica."
"Nice to meet you. How long have you been here?"
"About half an hour. Where are you from?"
"Australia."
"Cool."

I realize that isn't going anywhere. A second later I do this:

"I'm actually Canadian, I lied to you about the Australian thing."
"Oh, haha, okay."

The end. Lame, I know.

Lesson Learned:
Probably should have opened with something else.
"So, do you go to dance parties often?"
"Are you having a good time?"
"You know what would make this party better? If we crowd surfed."
Or something along those lines, to make her qualify herself to me as fun and looking for a good time.

Let me know how you think I could have improved these. Thanks.

Body Language. A smile. And Confidence.

You just got pretty far into the game if you apply those things. Remember that, and when going out, pea cocking does help a lot, I've learned this, again and again. Speaking of which, I need to get more pea cock gear.

You ask her if she's having a good time, and then what? You've got nothing. Your conversation went nowhere because you had nothing to talk about, not because you tried to open with some gimmicky routine line.

Don't get me wrong, if you can get into character and start a routine and get a girl to go along with it, that's great. When I do that, it shows that the girl has a sense of humor and a level of intelligence enough to realize that I'm not serious, which raises my interest. Once I am interested, I have things to discuss, because I want to find out things about her.

You were not interested. Therefore, you had nothing to say.
