Greetings PUAs and fellow AFCs. What follows in this journal will be a tale that will start off with hilarious failure, and end with spectacular success. Much of this tale is still in the future, but I know the ending because i've already decided what the future is going to look like.
Here goes...
FR #1 - Thursday, 29 July. Wingman: Lilac (He has his own FR up too)
First thing I learned about (beginner's) PUAing is that one must be prepared beforehand with some good ice-breaking openers. Me and my wing memorised two openers from the forum; the "Magic Talisman" one, and the "Does my friend look gay?" one. Using these, we opened 5 sets each. We both had major AA - if we didn't have the memorised routines, I'm pretty certain we would have completely lost our shit!
Second thing I learned is how important it is to choose a good bar when just starting gaming. IMO, there must be two overriding considerations. One: whether the bar has enough HB sets Two: Whether the bar is QUIET ENOUGH. AA is a hard enough obstacle for newbies without the problem of shouting your openers.
Of course I'm still a major newbie, so if you guys feel that my (hasty) judgements are incorrect, please do point them out.
Anyway, using the routines mentioned above, I opened 5 sets with reasonable success, although "mid-game anxiety" set in with practically all of them, and most convos did not proceed very far past the initial opener. No kino esc, no comfort building, cold reading, etc.
Really gotta work on that stuff. Any tips? All in all though, it was a great first night in the field. Lilac is a great, friendly guy and a very energetic wing. I reccomend him to any PUA reading this post.
