Post subject:  FR: 1 - Opening

Last night I went out to experience PUA in field. I've, like most newbies, become well versed in the theory of PUA but have little to no field experience.

So taking baby steps, I decided in the whole night I would approach and open 5 sets. So I got a wing and we set off!

To sum it all up, I had no idea that AA would take over as much as it did - I could hardly approach any sets.

After the first, it became easier; we opened up a set of two women, about 10 years older than us but we needed all the practice we could get. I'm pleased to say it went very well, we opened well and they were interested. Unfortunately we're completely useless at transitioning and so the conversation fell into idle chatter. I decided to pull out of the set and ticked off in my head. I had opened a set.

The next two went equally as well, I opened using a variation of the 'spells' opener and they took genuine interest. I had practiced the line in the mirror before so I worked it off as if it was genuine and not just canned. My body language sucked though.

As my confidence grew, I decided to open a 5-set of HB-7 in a local blues bar. I started to open but, due to the loud music, I leaned in. This combined with my mechanical movements from AA quickly led to the girls sending IODs. I quickly excused myself from the set.

That completely shot my confidence but as the night grew later, I decided to approach another set in a nightclub in Soho. I'm pleased to say that I pulled it off with an aplomb.

So to sum up, I opened up 5 sets and only crashed and burnt in one.

Once I've got completely comfortable with openings, what do people suggest I practice next?

I would appreciate all comments about the nights events and the question.

Thanks a lot guys.
