First off, I'm a newbie but am really ambitious about my potential. I see a HB8 poolside yesterday with a UG (I'd rate... 3?) friend laying down... towel over her head. Typically you approach the UG and neg the HB8, right? But when the UG is unapproachable, I might as well go after the target. Part of her hair was up and part of it was down. Me - So, is your hair up or down today? I can't tell HB - Oh, I just put something together (fixes hair a bit and giggles) Me - I think it would look better completely down. Go into the teddy bear routine... got a general opinion. She then asked for my name, extended hand out for a handshake, smiling. I go into a question asking what kind of an animal would she be if she could change and why (to open up personality). At this point, the UG opens up and comes into the conversation. HB answers with a dog and I neg her a little bit. UG comes in saying... UG - What a lame question. 'little girly voice' what kind of animal would I be? So I answer so you can guess what my personality would be. Me - Umm, yes. That's the idea. And that doesn't mean you can't answer the question, right? UG - Fine... I guess I'd be a dog too. (bitch shield was up). We talk for a little bit. HB was from out of town for a day. I didn't number close or anything (still practicing, really...) But she did say she'd be at the same spot the next day if I wanted to stop by and say hi. So everything is going okay so far. I stop by the next day (today). Lay down near them as one of my relatives call. So I'm on my own for a bit on a cell. I can see them on the corner of my eye looking my way. I get done talking to my brother and head towards their direction. Me - So how was that event you guys went to last night? UG - Umm, were you taking pictures of us with your cell phone? Me - Yes, that's exactly what I was doing (sarcastic tone, grinning) UG just kind of looks at me UG - That's very rude and we don't appreciate it. Me - You think I'm serious? No, I did not take pictures of you. Calm down. UG - I'm calm, but we don't want to talk to you. Please leave us alone. Yes, yes... shit test. But how am I to respond to that? I was given IOIs by her friend (HB) and the UG had been telling me to fuck off the whole time. I"m trying to pick myself up after this and it's difficult. No one likes rejection, but it's like I never had a shot to begin with. And what I've learned is that I did not read the IOIs or IODs correctly the day before or else I wouldn't get that bitch shield. I know I made some mistakes... I'm a newbie. But any opinions would be appreciated. |

I think part of it is that the UG looked at that as a pick up line and reacted negatively to it. Now, I challenged her. But that probably gave off bad signs to them, even if I said I was testing for personality before hand. |

Two questions: 1. Was the UG fat? 2. What's the teddy bear routine? I think the problem is that you opened the girl and not the set. I know she was impossible to approach but in that case you probably should have waited it out until the entire 2-set was approachable. However with that said, I don't think very many people could have pulled that off even with the right timing. I probably wouldn't have even thought of such a good opener. So props for getting that far. Besides now you have a good F.R and a decent story to tell your friends. |

Well, that's pretty irretrievable. "Actually, I was on the phone to my brother, you ass." *Throw him the phone* "You can check it if you're so paranoid but I have better things to do with my time that take your photo. I'm not a photographer." I'd then walk away, leaving them with your phone. Either go have a swim in the pool if you were by a pool again, or walk up to the bar and get yourself a coke or whatever. Personally, I am too proud to take that shit from anyone, so I would then have walked up and asked for my phone, then turned and said to the girl "I would have loved to get to know you better, but I don't much like hanging out with assholes *nod in his direction*." Then I'd leave. Your problem here was probably a lack of social proof, and then they got suspicious and jumped to an assumption. Proving them wrong and making him look stupid would have been a good enough close for me from there, but getting the girl would not have been worth the effort unless the guy had got down on his knees to beg forgiveness. |

astj1 - Answers 1) Yes 2) I saw it on one of the videos here in the resources section asking if she'd date a guy who still sleeps with a teddy bear or stuffed animal. Basically another opinion routine. Scent - I agree with that, I think noticing no reaction from the HB also caught me off guard because I wanted to read what everyone's reaction was. No big deal. Lesson learned. |
