Post subject:  Field Journal for an AFC in transformation

So I've decided to keep a journal running on this thread about my field experiences. I will post updates each time I make an approach. My hope is that other guys making the transformation can share experiences and learn from my AFC mistakes by reading this. Also, that some PUAs can get on here and offer some good critics.

Day 1 in the field. I decided I would try and use some of the few techniques I’ve picked up reading on the forums so far, but more importantly that I would approach some women and stop being a wuss. My two approaches for the day went as such—

1. My waitress at lunch: I was putting out good confidence, making eye contact, and trying to be a little cocky. I avoided the usual AFC topics, established value, and kept her smiling/laughing. My buddy I was having lunch with agreed that I was in and I should # close. We had both missed the wedding ring, so that one was a crash and burn. I’m not willing to go after somebody’s wife anyway so I’m glad it did.

2. The bartender: I used the above techniques and this time added negs, effective body language, and even the pick a number 1-10 routine from the mystery method. I got good results from the negs and the 1-10 routine, which was encouraging. I had a few IOIs and again my buddy agreed that I was in and it was time to # close. She gave me the “I have a boyfriend excuse”, so, crash and burn again. She may have been telling the truth, I’ll never know.

My question is this. It occurred to me after the fact that women go to bars to be approached by men, but employees go there to make money. Am I making things more difficult on myself by going after wait staff and bartenders who may just not want to be approached, as opposed to patrons who likely do? I know the reason I approached employees is because they have to come start the conversation with me and that eliminates any approach anxiety and allows me to be confident more easily. I suppose that’s weak and a bit of an AFC move. Any comments are appreciated.

Day 2 – Saturday 26 June

I’m a member of a local CrossFit Gym. If you’re not familiar it’s an intense workout program that incorporates body weight resistance, Olympic lifting, gymnastics, endurance workouts, and competitive drive. The way it works is everybody shows up, does the same workout, and tries to outpace or out lift those around them. I found a 2 set when the workout started and made an opener on the target. Her partner was trying to encourage her to go faster and I saw that she was wearing a Baylor shirt. I’m from Texas so I said something to the effect of “you leave that poor Baylor girl alone, she’s got it bad enough when it comes to loosing at sports”

The opener got a good laugh and she explained she had just picked it up from a goodwill store. The workout wasn’t done so I jetted off to the next exercise, I guess that would count as a time constraint. When she and her partner finished I chatted them up, focusing more eye contact and attention on the partner than the target. It worked perfectly. The target started to talk more loudly and eventually decided to just grab my attention by introducing herself and shaking my hand.

I didn’t have my phone or anything to write on, so I thought I was screwed. I said I had to go and lucky for me she decided to walk out with me. I still had no way to write down her number so I decided to try a variant of the e-mail close that I read about. I told her to join the gym’s facebook group and that I would find her that way. She said she would, so I guess we’ll see. I’ll post if this turns out to be a successful close or another crash and burn.

First of all, these employees are women too, not robots. So they can be gamed too of course. If you're just 'starting' I think you better focus on customers en 'regular'girls, because the main difference between 'hired guns'(thats what they're called here) and regular hot girls, is that the hired guns generally speaking are more confident and being hit on more. So if your game is weak, they'll burn you.
If your game is tight, and your confidence peaking, then you should consider gaming hired guns, it will improve all of your game, because a hired gun that is fond of you attracts other girls as well.

In the end you'll find out that paradoxically, hired guns are easy to game. That's because they are constantly hit on by men with weak game. They are tired of all the men thinking they have a shot and are practically waiting for a man like me.
