..and that's not necessarily a good thing. I've known her for 5-6 weeks through uni. We've hung out 3-4 times (one on one study dates/coffees etc), but not in a situation where I could kiss close. Here is a list of her incongruent behavior: The Good: - She's incredibly intelligent/independent. As a result she seems forthright, not afraid to speak her mind. Doesn't seem the flaky type nor of 'loose morals'. - She hints to meet up with me. Waits around for me after class. - Responds 95% of times to calls and messages with long verbose answers. - Overall, I'd say our comfort levels are very high (we have very similar lifestyles/habits/interests). There is never any awkward silences in our conversations and since i've known her, we average one or two phone calls and one or two text chats per week. The Bad: - She's flaked on me twice. Today (sunday here in melbourne, australia) she flaked on me for the SECOND time, sending me a text about 3 hours before we were meant to meet: "NOAH! BAD NEWS: im so sorry but i'll have to skip the farmers market today. Being a lifeguard sounds like a radical part time job, sure. Until you realize that means coming into constant contact with their icky pathogens and childish immune systems. Cue Lucy being relegated to her room with tea and a copy of sense and sensibility for the day. Not good. Can we raincheck please?" She typed that wall of text on her iphone. I haven't responded yet because I'm going to go on ahead to the farmers market regardless. - Despite her intelligent, poised persona, she seems to play 'the game', purposely waiting hours to respond to messages or calls (but in the end always doing so). Should I call her up in response to her text flake?: There are other points as well, but I don't want to make this post too long. Basically, when we interact in person or on phone I get great vibes. But I feel like she's resistant to meet ups. The last time I saw her was 3 weeks ago! What to do with this lady? And more importantly, how to respond? I'm thinking of calling her once I'm at the farmers market with friends and busting on her in a joking way. I won't mention the raincheck unless she does. Good plan? |

People usually don't bother with walls of text unless they have legitimate excuses. I would give her one more chance, and if she flakes, freeze out or move on. |

has anyone else encountered this sort of girl before and how did you figure it out if so? I guess I'm thrown off by the fact that see is a combination of: flakey, aloof and somewhat cunning, yet responsive, interested, and open (and honest in a weird contrasting way). She may miss your call and not call you back for 3-4 days, then you find 2 missed calls from her within 10 mins. She'll text you with 2 messages before you respond, but she always tries to have you send the 'last message sent', so as to control tempo. Just now I texted her back with 'illness sounds like a drag. how you going to make up for it missy' and she responds with how beautiful the day is and how tragic it is she missed out, and that she would make up for it by 'maybe hitting it up next week'. |

Easy, don't stress. You guys often think it's mixed signals if a girl doesn't respond to every step towards the goal you've set. It's like investing in the stock market ... doesn't go up every day, it's the mid/long run trend that counts. She likes you but you're not her number one priority, which is why she needs her time to respond (she probably doesn't like interrupting what she's doing / texting if she's not in the mood for it). She's independent and intellectual, so probably she needs alot of time for her thoughts/ hobies/ time for herself/ likes to live by her own rythm. As long as she keeps coming back at ya everythings fine. So she hinted that she wants to make up for it, make a date for next week fast before her mood changes again or she's focused on other things, that might have a higher priority! |
