Okay, first of all - I've learnt there are next to NO targets in a pub. Especially on quiz night
.However, there was one.
I arranged to meet my friends @ 8:30pm, we sit down, around 9PM, HB8 walks in with her HB6 friend. I overhear them saying "I've never been here before either".
They go and sit in the opposite side of the pub.
I got my wing and a friend to sit on the 2-seater table a few yards away, and use them as my social proof.
I see the HB's friend go to the toilet/to the bar. So I walk over to my wing and say "what're you having?" he replies "pint of fosters", to which I replied "well you know where the bar is then pal" - making sure the target hears. He stands up unwillingly, I take his seat and casually lean over my shoulder and say to HB8 "So, your friend has ditched you?" (credit to smartbomb) she instantly replied "no no no no no, honest, she's just gone to the toilet" so I say "yeah, right. I'll come sit with you so it looks like you've not come alone", said jokingly, but she moved up the sofa to make room for me. I sat down and say "how are you doing in the quiz? Are you smarter than you look?" (comments on the neg?) "well, I'll check your answers for you. Just to make sure", we start talking about ''the man who's handing out business cards as a funeral singer'' (personal thread). Her friend comes back and gives me the bitch look, so I say "hey, can I introduce you to Jess? She's come alone and it's her first time in here" this get's a laugh from target and a shove on the shoulder. By this time my wing had bought his drink and had sat back down, so I say "I'm going to go get a drink" - walk over and take my wing's drink, jokingly, then move to the bar, order and go and sit with my female friends.
Skipping to the end of the quiz, we get our results, and surprise surprise the set comes over to me, and the target's friend (who I've only spoke one sentence to) says "where did you come?", so I replied "just over here... Nah, we came 6th - it's your friend, she gave us all of your wrong answers!". Target sits down next to me and apologizes, lots of kino. I say "well if you want to make it up to me, you can buy me a drink", and to my surprise, she does. We carry on talking for around 5 minutes, her friend sat on my right, target on the left (making sure I give target HB8 alot of my back), but allowing her to be part of the conversation. My wing comes over, and says "we're heading out now, taxi in 5". I give it a minute then I turn to the target and say "it was cool talking to you, put your number in my phone and I'll talk to you later" she takes my phone and struggles to put the numbers in (I have a weird nokia phone), I say "No wonder you came last! It's okay because you're hot though" push/pull? She laughed, looked me in the eye and said "Don't leave it too long before you call me, alright?" shit test? I replied with "I'm kinda busy this week so I'll give you a call when I get a chance. Kiss goodbye. (pointing at cheek)" she goes to kiss both cheeks and I lean back and say "don't be greedy now" with a discerning look
.Any opinions on what went wrong, what went right? I know I used alot of canned shit, but it was my first night sarge!
