I've tried to go and figure this stuff out on my own. Zero success. This week, I've been reading the forum and tonight I got to put it into practice. The first decision of the night was some peacocking. I decided on a new watch and some new rings. I wear neither but that didn't stop me. So, I head into Fossil and there's a young HB7 and a 5 who was kinda still kinda cute. Now, keep in mind I'm just practicing here. I go up to the 5 and start asking her opinion, wanting to come up with a matching watch and wallet. HB7 is all over it, showing me what she likes and we hop around the counter. They recommend brown bands and I prefer black, so I kinda neg on their selection. Unfortunately HB7 needs to deal with other customers and the 5 and I go look at wallets. As I check out, the 5 starts asking me if I'm from here and so on. I ask her where she's from and what she's does outside of work. Blah blah...board games....blah. Fortunately I couldn't even think how to number close even though I'm sure I could have. So, I get some sunglasses and rings at another place and then head out. I tried to make them significant so I could explain the ring test on myself if the opportunity arose. One thing I have to say is that I'm getting comfortable with the "bar open". After two drinks I switch to club soda, so I can always be at the bar if I see a set. First set, a tall HB8, HB7, and an HB6. I've been warned about bachelorette parties and I should have known better. The 6 wants to put underwear on my head. I guess it's something they do. So, I tell her to buy me a drink first. Laughed off. She keeps trying but I keep pulling away. I try getting her to explain the reasoning (I'm sure it's a part of some scavenger hunt thing...whatever). She fails. Finally I relent and I make her peck my cheek for my troubles. Not great but not bad either. So, then next is a three set and they're all drinking in opaque plastic cups. Fantastic, I can do a booze test on them. I open with "Before I talk to you, tell me you're not in a bachelorette party." They assure me they're not. So, I try go for the "beer test", hoping they're drinking something more exciting than that. Turns out they're all drinking Natural Light. Ugh. I freeze, they eject, but at least I tried. Next set (set 3 for those keeping count), 7 HB7s+++, lead by an HB9 and they're all wearing schoolgirl outfits. Another bachelorette party. UGH! Anyway, they ask my name. Now, I say Blake as that's who I've become. They all looked dissappointed, apparently they need a Collin. Would "Whatever you want it to be?" have worked here? I think not, shows too much neediness. After we go on about names, the HB9 says that everyone there are her bitches and I say she has detention. She says they're all in detention and I eject again. Final set, a two fer, an HB7 and HB8. Bachelorette party, again, but they're away from the group. The HB8 looks bored, so I start chatting the HB7 anyway. Unfortunately I don't figure out how to bring the HB8 into the group. Anyway, the HB7 wants my sunglasses. I tell them they're from California, she knows someone from L.A., blah blah. Then she starts judging passersby and I really neg her a lot. You're judgemental, I've got to go. I probably should have judged people along with her, but perhaps disagreed with her choices. I tried asking what she thought of me, but realized that I'm still just a 5-6. I didn't push it. I did leave her though saying I had to go. At least my confidence is building and I'm sorry for the long post. Any advice on any set would be appreciated. |

I think you have seen more bachelorette parties in one night than I have in my entire life. Regardless, you did a number of things well. 1st of all, you kept in mind not to seem needy or interested. Did you neg on the married chick to disarm the group? Its a tough set, but the basics still apply. Also sounds like you could have moved a little further w/ the school girls. Although a weird situation, you might have been able to neg a bit on their choice of names and pick one in particular. Then isolate one of the girls. Best of all however, you keep trying. So many AFCs go out there and try one set, eject, and then shutdown for the rest of the night. Keep it up man! |
