So last night myself and a bunch of mates decided to go into town for a few drinks etc. After hanging around in two bars which were pretty much empty, four of us headed into the main club in town, Love2Love. Earlier on in the evening, my friend Ben and I spotted two pretty lasses, but didn't think much of it.
After being in the club for about half an hour or so, the pretty lasses (whom I shall call "Red" and "19" for now) entered the club. Ben and I went out for a smoke. Just as we were finishing our cigarettes, Red and 19 wandered outside and sat down in the other end of the small smokers courtyard. Deciding to go for it, we lit another cigarette each (hey, if I'm gonna die of cancer, I'd at least like to get some action first!). We wandered over to their end of the courtyard on the pretence of talking to another girl we'd spoken to briefly early. Sure enough, as we reached Red and 19, 19 asks for a light. I whipped mine out after a brief pause and passed it to her. 19 and Red lit up, and as 19 passed the lighter back to me, she asks me to sit down next to her. So far, so good (seeing as at this point, other than walking past and giving my lighter over, I'd not actually done anything that can be considered a pickup routine).
The girls introduced themselves and we got talking. 19 told me it was her birthday (19th, hence the nickname). I wished her a Happy Birthday and asked her what she was hoping to get as a present. She told me she wanted a trip to New York. From here I managed to get a conversation going about travelling and all of the places we'd both visited. This kept things flowing for a good 5-10 mins, while Ben kept Red occupied. Things were going well, and I was getting some good IOIs. For example, she kept telling me I was the nicest person that she'd met all evening and that it was a pleasant surprise to talk to a guy who wasn't just interested in sleeping with her (irony much
). She mentioned that she had a boyfriend, which made me panic a little for a second but I recovered and lied by telling her I had a girlfriend back home in London. From the conversation that stemmed she told me her boyfriend lived in Spain so she saw very little of him. She obviously had strong feelings for him, but also kept mentioning that he was very possessive over her (good thing or not, I can't tell).I asked for her number, which she promptly gave me, and I joked that I'd buy her a birthday cake. At this point there was a slight emergency as I desperately needed a piss, but didn't want to leave the scene. I made a quick apology and asked both girls and Ben whether they'd like a drink. When I returned, I was immediately motioned to sit back down with 19, where we continued the conversation. By this point, our other 2 friends from the club had joined us, but being good sports, were all busy talking to Red so that I could continue with 19. When the bouncer told us the club was closing, 19 asked us if we all wanted to hang out somewhere else, and after a short discussion they agreed to come back to mine for a couple of drinks, on condition that they could find their other girl friends from the bar next door.
As we were leaving the club, a drunk guy who'd been unsuccessfully trying to attract 19 all night went up to her, groped her arse, put his arm round her and kept asking her to go to dinner with him. She made several attempts to get rid of him, but he clung on. Eventually, I turned to him and said something along the lines of:
"Mate, if that's the way you're going to treat a woman, you're not gonna get anywhere." 19 gave me a huge smile, and drunken gorilla man wandered off.
We all waited outside and 19 rushed off to find her friends. After about 10 minutes of waiting and talking amongst ourselves, 19 returned and announced that her friend was too drunk to carry on with the party and that she'd have to take her home. Both 19 and (more so) Red seemed quite sad about this. I got a kiss on the cheek and a hug from 19, and she asked me to text or phone her about hanging out again. We went our separate ways, and after the 20 min walk home, I sent 19 a quick message saying it was lovely to meet her and Red, and that the offer of birthday cake was still there.
Unfortunately I've yet to hear back from her (though this all did happen last night).
I'm sure I did several things wrong last night, hence the lack of a reply message or a proper kiss, so I'd appreciate any feedback!
