I work at a grocery store as a cashier. In February We hired 4 new gals to be our cashiers, and one of them is an HB8 and the other is an HB9 both are best friends. I was able to talk to the HB9 during my break time and just asked about how she found out about this job. In the middle of the conversation, her best friend the HB8 showed up and sat right between us and only talked to her friend. I had to think of something fast, I pulled a hair out from the HB8 and said I saw a white hair. The HB8 turned to face me but didnt get mad, she said something about highlighting the hair and we just talk for a few minutes leaving the HB9 hanging. Few days afterwards, the HB8 approached me 2 times asking about holiday pay and where to find a merchandise. It was the month of April, I transferred to another department to get more than just 20 hours a week but the work involves lots of lifting and breaking down pallets and stocking the warehouse. I dropped from 170lb to 150lb. Virtually I talked to no one from that time including the HB8 and HB9 since my department is located faraway from the registers. Now is the end of May, as I was chatting with a former cashier now doing ID checks at the entrance, the HB8 came to me asking for a band aid for her cut finger. I took her back to my locker and put a bandaid on her finger. She asked about how's school doing and I told her I am done with school. She said I'm old and my response is that it is only a number. We are 8 years apart in age. Last week, the HB8 stopped by my department asking me where to return an item which caught me by surprise as she wore contacts and has a new hairstyle, I told her where it was and left it at that. Today, I stopped by the cash register to find the cashier who has worked in the warehouse before to relieve me for lunch as I am closing today by myself. As I walked past the register, the HB8 called out asking me to answer a customer's question, I did and left. So my 2 questions to you guys are: The situation I described above, can it be an indicator of interest by the HB8? Since our break times are different and I am not allowed to hangout at her register while she's working, how do I find out from her if she is interested in me? I have never experienced anything like this at work since the time when I was a minor working at Burger King. So any feedback is greatly appreciated. |
