Post subject:  First Field Exercise. I went to a pool.

So I just joined the forum this morning, and I figured I had better hit the ground running otherwise 'the game' would just be an idea and not my reality.

I hit the pool today at 5 to work out with my friend. I knew there were some cute lifeguards there so I decided to try some stuff.

The first one was sitting right at the entrance checking ID's as people walked in. I stumbled on the step, caught myself with a hop and smiled at her. My brilliant recovery after she noticed me was 'Hey, did you know there's a step there?' She laughed we started talking. I used an FTC and said that I had to get to my friend since he was already in the water. Couldn't think of a way to close it. Although maybe this will help toward building reputation there and help later on as a form of social proof.

Later on there was another girl in the lane next to me teaching another (much, much older) woman to do flip turns. Looking back I should have opened the older woman instead of adressing the target directly, but I at least went for a DHV by saying 'Y'all trying to do some backstroke flipturns?' The target said that yes, they were both working on it, then she asked me if I meant counting the strokes before the turn. I said yeah, then she said 'Oh yeah, I take three strokes before I turn." I took this as an IOI, cause she really didn't have to tell me crap after acknowledging that I had correctly guessed what they were both doing. I laughed, which I think counts as a mild neg, and then I told her that I had done that a couple times too. I was going for a push-pull, but after those two I couldn't really think of anything more so I decided to do a take-away and took off for another couple laps. Didn't see her anymore after that.

All in all I think I'm overanalyzing, but at least I'm trying to get my head in the game.

Thoughts?

Worry less, and have fun with this. After all, it's a very exciting game. :)
