| Post subject: | Too far on neg? |
Went to a house party and was in a three set. Easy opinion opener started a conversation. Then as the conversation went on, the target interrupts me, and I use the neg "Geez, where's her off button?" then the target got defensive and eventually walked away. She eventually came back, but I wasn't able to get back in her good graces I have two theories on why this happened. 1.) I thought she was at least an HB8 so I would have been able to get away with the neg, but maybe she just wasn't used to being hit on? 2.) My delivery. In conclusion, I think I just have to calibrate. |

you should say it with a nice smile, like youre telling the world's funniest joke. I think you were like all serious and went "geez do you have an off button?" i would get ticked when someone all serious says that to me. |

Yeah, I think when I said it, I had a smirk on my face rather than a friendly smile. I think I need to try and be more aware of that. Thanks! |

Did you say the neg to the obstacles? Laugh and smile as well |

Yes I did say the neg to the obstacles, and now that I think about it... I think that another reason why the girl got angry was because I waited for a response. I have a feeling that if I said the neg with a playful smile and continued on with the conversation WITHOUT hesitation, I might have done better. |

YES. Don't wait for a reaction, just keep talking to her friends.
