| Post subject: | Dublin Oktoberfest Daygame |
Oktoberfest Dublin Day Game Field Report This is my first attempt at daygame in Dublin. I had never tried daygame before because (a). in Dublin the coffee shops are full of middle aged couples eating chocolate muffins (b). the supermarkets are full of people in shellsuits pushing prams (c). I’m not at university any more (d). I don’t have a dog (e). all the HBs here can be found in nightclubs (f). my AA was worse in the pre-Hypnotica days However, this weekend things were different. Firstly, there is the Dublin Oktoberfest (a mini version of the real one in Munich). This provided me with a fun alternative to going to Starbucks or harassing mothers of twelve at Lidl. I went with one of my wings at about 4pm, just when it was getting busy. We scouted the place out and sat down beside a set of Kiwis and Australians, avoiding the Irish because they were all too drunk and cliquey, and avoiding the Eurobum backpackers because we’re not good enough to run patterns in Spanglish. Daygame. Is. The. Nuts. Firstly, in a club environment, the women are dressed to kill. This gives them a higher value, and you have to use negs to run it down. At events like Oktoberfest, people are out to have a good time, with a minimum of posing, so you can go straight in with the teasing and sexual innuendo. I found fluffing and rapport building to be much easier in the daygame context also. Because the sets aren’t in an environment where they expect to be approached by men, they aren’t on the defensive and are more lavish with their IOIs. Also, the music was low enough to have a conversation and I was able to avoid having more than 2 drinks because of the range of other activities on offer. The biggest bonus is the lack of competition: Irish AFCs don’t do anything unless 8 pints drunk, and are therefore rendered impotent outside of a bar or club environment. You have the entire field all to yourself. Obviously, I was a fish out of water, my mind went blank and I completely forgot every pattern and DHV story I had ever learnt and started making it up as I went along. For DHVs I started a conversation with the barmaid (a German HB10 in traditional dress). Then we challenged the Aussies at the next table to a glass lifting game. Then I told them about the real Oktoberfest and how great it is. The only canned material I could remember to use was the time constraint. Comfort building was almost unnecessary as the friendly and relaxed SPAM creates so much rapport. I am from Belfast and people are always saying to me "oh, I have to go there someday on a bus tour", so I am slowly crafting an SS pattern which I shall call the Belfast Pattern, I used it (as it currently is, half-formed) on them, it worked pretty well. The best IOI I think was when they went away and came back with these enormous beers for us. It could also be interpreted as a qualifier. We managed to isolate 2 Kiwis, a 7 and a 6. My wing closed the deal a la Alex PUA by mentioning that we were going to a party later and getting their numbers in case they wanted to come along. They did show up at the party later, but I was away (gaming another set in a battle of the bands scenario which was fun because we made it like X Factor and they were all metal bands). My wing said the 7 was implying she had the hots for me at the party. I am undecided about what to do about it. All in all, I was chuffed with the way the daygame went. The only drawbacks are that you are gonna have to be insanely good to get a same day lay and there are no HB9s or 10s. I will be looking out in future for these kinds of festivals and events on in the city as they are a goldmine of opportunity to practice your game without the pressures of nightgame. Keep ripping those bodices, Z |
