Yesterday I went out with my wingman tosma. There wasn't alot of people so we just talked to random people to get started. I field tested some material. I always use the "who lies more?" opener. It goes like this: "Hey, I need your opinion on something. Who lies more girls or guys?" They go like "what?" "Alright, I can only stay a minute then I gotta rejoin my friends (false time contstrain) But who do you think cheats more, girls or guys?" They give their opinion. Now I root my opener with "The reason because I ask is because my friend and I are in this discusion over who cheats more. I red in a magazine it are guys that cheat more, but my friend doesn't agree..." The problem with this opener is that most people don't understand the word "lies". They confuse it with "likes". And it's not because I don't speak loud enough, it's because they don't speak english in Brussels but french. And I don't speak french. I ussualy follow up with the 5 question game. It's were you ask 5 questions and they have to lie each time. The 3 first questions are not important. The fourth question you ask "How many questions are that so far?" when they see trough your trick you say "Aw, you got me. Have you played this game before?" They always fail on the fifth question. This routine should be a DHV, but I had times were it was a DLV. Probably because I didn't deliver it well. After that I run out of things to say and we go in an interview style of conversation. "Were are you from?", "What do you do?",... At this point it gets boring and my sets fade out. My working points: -find more things to say -make sure to DHV on the right time -use another opener -neg the target |

I would stay away from routines as it doesn't help develop your conversational skills. Best way to approach is by using situational or observational opener. Make a comment on the environment and she will be able to relate to it better. Transition quickly into a unique conversation so you move out of the "stranger" zone and start running real game on her. |
