Well, tonight was another failure to be learned from. It started off slow, as I couldn't work up the courage to make any approaches at first. Finally, I said, "fuck it, I'm here to learn, and I ain't learnin' shit sittin' on my ass." So I approached a 3-set and used the who lies more: men or women opener. The girl I opened to responded predictably (men lie more, women are better). I couldn't figure out where to take the conversation from there, though, and ultimately ended up back at the table with my friend. After a while, we moved to a different part of the bar. We ended up running into another guy who was out with friends celebrating his 22nd birthday. He didn't know what his zodiac sign was, though. I decided to try using this as an opener and approached a girl, saying, "My friend's birthday's today, and none of us know what the zodiac sign is for December. Do you?" She didn't, none of them did, and I returned to my corner for another round. The best line I thought of tonight was one I plan on using again. I noticed lots of women dancing on the floor with many others standing and watching. I approached a girl at the bar, smiled, and said, "Hi." She said, "hi" back. I said, "Let me get your opinion on something. Who do you think is having more fun: the people dancing out there, or the ones over here watching them dance?" As expected, she responded that it was the ones dancing. So I then asked, "then what are you doing standing over here?" She was getting drinks for herself and her boyfriend. When she dropped the boyfriend line, I returned. Later that night, we ran into the same 3-set I mentioned earlier at a different bar. This time we were able to engage in a conversation with them for a while and sat at their table. One of them was engaged, another married, and the third was single but moving in a week and kept shouting about how tonight was a girls-only night and how she hated men. She got on my nerves after a while, so we eventually left. The one who was married tried to get me to buy them shots, but I refused to do so unless the single girl danced with me. The negotiation never resolved satisfactorially, so they ended up without shots, and I ended up without a dance. It's all a learning process; I'm making a lot of mistakes, but I'm getting a lot of practice and feeling more confident in general with each failure. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? |

hey tequila! first of all, check out the post on boyfriend destroyers in the 'Routines' section by Jaxin. As far as the zodiac sign opener, only pull that if you have memorized the zodiac signs yourself (so you can make small talk about it while transitioning to another opener). I really like your 'Dance' opener! However it seems like you should get at least one or two negs and one or two IOI's before pulling the "then what are you doing standing over here?"comment. ----It is all about learning my friend!
