Not that much info to go off ;P Can only guess at a few things that might of happened.
First.m The cube, despite being fun to use is now pretty easily related to PUA. Which if any of those friends had heard it said before will immediately have gone off as a siren that you were trying to pick her or her friend up. E.g. Warning goes through and bang they're outta there.
Second. The cube though being fun has to be used pretty much in isolation, if you used it whilst walking or within the group you've blown the intimacy of the activity and essentially made her get a bit self conscious and run back to her friends (Who were most likely giving her the questioning eye a bit if you didn't isolate)
Third. Obviously these girls were pretty fun to be around if they were confident enough to approach you guys, pulling out canned routines in this situation may have been a bit boring to the as the cube if anything is basically trying to emotionally connect with a girl and say "ah I know all about you now" so she feels more comfortable around you. Trying to use this on a girl in full swing (potentially a little bit drunk) your dragging down her energy levels from the high she was experiencing being a bit crazy. So by slowing it down with the cube you could of unintentionally been seen as a bit boring.
Any of this sound like it could of happened? Canned material is ok but it's not a box of magic tricks which will work in any given situation, just focus a bit more on your natural game and reading energy levels. That'll give you a bit of insight on what to bring up.
