Went to HOB (a club in the area, sundays are trance night) with a friend and bumped into a wing I know. He asked me if I wanted to wing with him. I said ok lets do it. The goal I had in mind was any set we wanted to approach we would just walk up without thinking and without any hesitation. AA has been something I've been working on and realized the best way to get over it is to just jump right in and don't think about what I'm going to say. I realized thinking too much is the reason why AA gets the best of me. So we walk inside and my wing goes 2 set asian girls. I'm like OK lets go. We both walk up and start talking. I don't remember what I opened with, might have been hey whats up or something. I don't remember cause I just went up there and didn't think. The convo goes pretty well without any uncomfortable silences or anything. So about 5 minutes in an asian guy comes up and puts his hands around both girls and says something to them. I ask the HB "is that her or your BF?" She goes that's hers. I ask, so where's yours? She points behind her to another guy. I go oh ok. Well I'm not moving unless he comes up and says something. She just laughs. I'm like you know in Vietnam, she is from Vietnam here for school, that dude would probally stab me. My friends from there told me how shady it is there. She goes yup your right. So at this point we keep talking then I see her man looking at me from the side. I walk up to him and go hey what's up. That's your girl right. He goes yea. I'm like yo no beef or anything, but you weren't here when we walked up, so no disrespect or anything right? We cool. He goes yea man no worries and gives me fist pump. Me and my wing then say bye and leave. We walk around the bar area and my wing points to a 3 set. I immediatly walk over and say you guys look lost or something. Whats going on right now. We're looking for my friend, its her bday. I'm like It was my bday last monday and let me tell you this, you won't find her looking here. I was all over the place. You'll bump into her when you're not looking. Do you guys want to smoke outside? They agree and we head outside to smoke. I ask the HB what does she do. Shes like im in school to be an RN. I look at her and say, "Let me say thank you on behalf of America. We need more hot nurses here and you're doing your part to chip in" She laughs and smiles then I say, you look like you're fun. Lets play a game. I then put my arm around her and run the strawberry fields routine. She got hooked by the routine and was like lets go to the dance floor, the bday girl is there. This was a huge mistake. Basically I get blocked by the bday girl hard where basically shes saying fuck off its my bday and you're not stealing my home girl. lol We head upstairs to the smoking area and open 4 set, totally not attractive, but what the hell, I'm here for practice and I'll open just to open. So I'm like Merry Xmas bla bla bla. I know its a dead convo, and the gay guy of the group was getting engaged in the convo so i say goodbye and merry Xmas and leave to stand by the edge of the smoking area. Me and my wing look around and see its a sausage fest in the area. We look to the right and see 2 girls. He goes 2 set there, but I think they're with those 2 dudes. Well since he pointed out the 2 set I say, "Ok lets find out if they're together" and then immediately walk up and open to the guys. I walk up and go Yo bro Merry Xmas and have my hand up giving him a low 5. He looks up at me and says, "Do I fucking know you?" I'm like, no you don't know me, I'm just here to say Merry Xmas. At this point i seriously thought I was going to get popped in the face or something along those lines. I know in his mind he's wondering what is this dude here for. So I'm like, where you guys from? They're like brazil. I'm like thats cool. I just moved down here and just like to meet cool people when I go out. You can meet a lotta cool friends here fast. So the other guys starts talking to my wing and he finds out the 2 girls are the dudes wives. At the end of the convo I'm like hey man, we're going to find our friends downstairs Merry Xmas guys. At this point the dude who I thought was going to pop me in the face stands up and gives me a 2 handed hand shake and says yea man merry xmas. You're down here a lot? I'll see you around. We walk away and I say to my wing, Holy shit. Just opened 2 dudes finding out if those girls are with them and they wanted to be our friends at the end. I'm warmed up lets keep going. The night goes on and we open more sets. For the last few sets the HB's I would talk to were totally uninterested and didn't want to have anything to do with the convo. This one italian I stopped the convo and said, How do you tell a guy to fuck off in italian. She looks at her friends surprised and then says Fuck off. I'm like no no no, how do you say fuck off in Italian? I want to know. So she tells me and I repeat it to her. Then she screams it at me, so I scream it at her. Then we both laugh. After that she opened up in the convo. Kinda funny how that played out. I tried that on another set. I would be talking and I see the HB's eyes looking around the area, almost like she's looking for a way to escape the convo. I then stop talking and go "look at this one. her eyes are looking around the area tying to escape." I say to my wing, "Dude we're boring the fuck out of them." Once again by doing this she was caught off guard, smiled and then opened up. I was starting to notice a trend going on here. I need to try this out more tonight to see how it goes. The night is coming to an end. We walk towards the exit, I look back and see my wing opening a 2 set sitting down. I watch and wait a little before walking over. I walk up and say there you go, you're my ride out of here and you're over here talking to girls. What's your guys name. This convo seems to be going dead fast. I start making fun of the girl cause her arms are crossed. I'm like man should you be out at the club right now. You have your arms crossed looking like your having the time of your life. lol. We leave the set shortly and a few feet away I open a 2 set. I open with, man the girls out here are so mean. Those girls down there are nasty. You guys aren't mean like the rest of them here are you? She goes us, no no. I'm like really, your arms are crossed just like her. Bla bla bla the convo gets started. Nothing special. Towards the end of this set, i could tell it was going boring. My wing asks for the girls name. She puts her hand out to shake hands and says, my name? I then cut her off and goes oh man, another one. Look at her she doesn't want to give us her name. I tell you what. I don't like you that much either. I'll give you my fake club name. Hi, I'm Seth. She smiles looks at her friend puts her hand out to shake mine and is about to speak. I go no no no give me your fake name not you're real one. She goes im Patricia. I then turn to my right to the other HB and say loudly enough for the other HB to hear and say Hi I'm Robert. She gives me some name. I then go ok so when I see you guys here next week, Imma yell out Patricia. And you'll keep walking, but not cause you're ignoring me, but because I'm calling you by your fake name. She starts laughing and we leave. My take from this night was too much thinking about what you're going to say will defiantly give me AA and will stop me from opening. I'm also starting to realize if the set is going bad, just flip what ever I'm doing. It throws them off guard and from what I saw so far, it made the interaction go in a more positive way. I'm going to keep trying this out and see how it goes. One thing I noticed from that night was the sets would keep dying and leave. I'll figure this shit out in time. 1 step at a time. |
