Ok, obviously there are women out there who are on to mystery, negs, etc. My question is - what's a good comeback.

Being that it's x-mas time and there was some weird santa claus theme party going on tonight, I opened with: "Would you date a guy with a full on beard? I mean one that really sticks out at you?" That usually worked, but one time I transitioned into another story and threw in a neg about her hair being shiney except for a few split ends and she replied "Oh, so you've heard of mystery? That's a good neg!" Have to admit, it threw me off so I moved on.

My question is - should I have said: "Mystery? as in mystery novels? Is that what you're into? Lemme ask, what's the last book you've read ... etc. etc."

So what r your thoughts my bruthas?

Maybe its just me but I'd honestly be impressed if a chick was familiar with the terminology and might complement her on her interests based on it. Alternatively you could say something like "oh sorry, I thought you were straight sweetie... Didn't realise you've been researching how to pick up women " I dont think pretending you don't know what they are talking about is a good path to take though. Pretty AFCish IMO.

Other than that, I agree, DON'T deny it. Be honest with the girl. She actually told you that was a good neg. Man, you could have and should have progressed with her. I don't know if she gave you any other IOI's or not, but I'm thinking that you could have turned that into at the very least a kiss close. So, next time . . . DON'T BACK OFF. Girls are gonna know about this stuff, more and more. Not all girls that is, but a lot will. Don't worry about that. Something you could say is . . . "oh good, you are a well read person, I like that in a girl" or "oh good, you keep up with popular trends, that's cool". Something like that. THAT will take HER off guard.

That is pretty funny actually I would have played right into that. I watched a interview with Mystry and he was talking on an experience where one of his introduced him as a PUA she spent the next 10 minutes saying how she was unaffected and then he ended up kiss and # closing her. Personally I think thats a bigger challenge and something to attempt, however the chances of it happening I would say are quite remote... I think you might have got unlucky and tried to oepn a Pivot ... or MAYBE theres a girl PUA forum somewhere lol Anyway thats something I havent heard before

hhmm, it definatly getting more risky to use mystery method stuff, but to get called on using negs like that realy surprises me ! unlucky chucky (as the hb's in my area say) i think we all need to be stearing well clear of the jelous girlfriend opener aswell as a few others that hav been given publicity in the game, the vh1 show and soon the game movie but most of it will still be usable. i realy dread the release of the game movie tbh cos ive used the cube on the majority of the women in my social circle aswell as styles ev on a few ect . sorry to hijack ur post man, the responce above about them not being straight is a good one

Negs are too often overused or used improperly. If a chick can tell you're neggin' her, you're probably overdoing it, or doing it when it's unnecessary. Remember, a girl will feel attraction for you based upon how you make her feel. And if you make her feel like an unattractive slut, she's not going to think very highly of you. And she's probably not going to want to polish your knob tonight. So if you're in a situation where you're not sure you should neg or not. Don't. On the other hand if a chick is not nice to you, acts like she's better than you, or has a bitch shield up, neg away within reason. You don't want the situation to degrade into WW3. This is of course counter productive. Too many guys try to neg chicks that are already into them, often out of insecurity and a lack of anything else to say, and it just comes off as being an asshole. You see this a lot from young guys who are afraid of expressing attraction for a woman, due to the fear of rejection, etc.., so they try to insult her instead. This is a mistake. Negs are not magic words, or a magical concept. They are simply one small tool in your arsenal. A specific tool meant to deal with a specific problem/situation. Used wholesale or as a general tactic when conversing with women, they often do more harm than good. But then you know the old saying.. "When all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail". Use negs sparingly, mildly and with a smile, and only in specific circumstances.

Excellent advice guys and great points Starbuck. Next time ignore and plow through that shit test. I'm trying to remember, but thinking back I probably through that neg out unnecessarily...my bad!

Just a thought..Everybody seems to be weirded out by the idea that The Cube and other openers like it are being used to much. First of all the Cube was not invented by Mystery it was just effectivly used by him, Its an old psycology game thats been around at least since the 60's. There is a book on amazon about it. Having said that there are tons of books out there with hundreds of these Chick Crack type tests, just do a little research some are pretty good. I guarantee you can find some that a HB hasn't seenm Vh1 or not!

If someone calls you out, you have failed somewhere along the way. This is because a true pickup does not look like a pickup at all. Look over what you did and ask yourself where you let her know that you were using scripted materials, scripted techniques or let on that you were trying to pick her up. I guarantee you that you'll find it.

sidegunner, welcome to the forum. Now, about your post, realize this . . . a good PUA can actually come right out and make comments about the girl going home with him, OR not going home with him, and still have her home with him that night, if HE wants.

If a girl calls you out on the mystery thing dont hide it turn it into a joke. What i like to do is joke around, for instance if she says did you get that from that show on vh1. I would go yea i actually watch it every week. But the key is to have a smile on your face like its a joke. then to keep going with your rotuine. Why lie and play stupid, just bust their balls.

Thanks for the welcome! I completely agree with you. My point is that if a girl calls you out on trying to pick her up, you've been disengenuous somewhere along the way and made her think that something you're doing is, ever so minutely, not you. Yes, you can certainly come out and say "you're going home with me tonight, and honestly I'm unsure about that since we just met" and it's true and serious. But after saying that, if you've done your thing right, she's not going to say "OMG MYSTERY LOL!!!". There are plenty of instances where a newbie will open with an opinion opener, get blown out and have the coach go in, use the same opener and get in good with the group. Learn from this! It's in the delivery, not the materials! The newbie wasn't comfortable with what he was saying, but the coach owned his words and was genuine. I've been called out before and it's seriously because I messed up along the way. Every instance I've seen of someone being called out has been because they screwed up somewhere. Own your actions!
