| Post subject: | Group in the Quad |
So today on campus I was practicing some flips in the quad on these large star type things with grass. There was a group of mostly girls and 1 guy down below. so anyway one of them saw me do a front flip and. Girl:(said something i didn't quite hear, might have been "Nice flip!") Me:Hey did you just say something about me? (with a playful smile) so I walked down there and introduced myself to the group, It was about 6 girls and one guy, I told them all my name, and shook their hands one at a time, getting their name. I held on to the girl handshakes a little longer to try to establish a connection. So i asked them if anyone went to the big show, which is a concert our school has, and it was on saturday. Some of them said yes so I talked about that a little bit. Then i asked the girls if any of them joined a sorority and they told me that they all did, and which ones. I told them that I joined a fraternity. I had to leave soon so i figured that i should at least try for some numbers (too early may have been the problem) So I told them that my fraternity had a party after big show, and if i'd known them then i would have invited them. Then i said something like hey if you give me your numbers i can tell you about the ones coming up. I thought a few of them were going to give me their number, but one girl said "Do you have a facebook though?" I saw this as a deflection. I said well I'm more of a phone guy, never really liked inviting through facebook. I think that because one girl didn't want to the group mentality kicked in and none of them ended up giving me their numbers. So I ended up ejecting just saying that they could add me on facebook if they wanted, and maybe I'll see them around later. So this interaction ended up being kind of a failure, so I want to learn from my mistakes, what do you think went wrong? I think I may have just not built up enough attraction or comfort before i asked for numbers. Some of the girls seemed to give me a positive response to my introduction though. I think being a group may have discouraged them. Also being freshman they might not be used to how you need to exchange info the time you met somebody or you may not seem them later. because in high school you will always see them again. Anyway that's my report, hope I did it right. Any criticism or suggestions would be appreciated. |
